France Attempts to Cut Pesticide Use in Half
Feb 18th
By Tom Philpott
Over in France, a farmer has successfully sued Monsanto for pesticide poisoning. The farmer claims he suffered a raft of neurological troubles after inhaling the agrochemical giant’s Lasso herbicide while cleaning his sprayer in 2004. The court’s ruling against Monsanto “could lend weight to other health claims against pesticides,” according to Reuters.
All very interesting, but what caught my eye was this background bit toward the end of the story:
France, the EU’s largest agricultural producer, is now targeting a 50 percent reduction in pesticide use between 2008 and 2018, with initial results showing a 4 percent cut in farm and non-farm use in 2008-2010.

BP Made 3 Million Per Hour In 2011, While Spill Victims Continued To Suffer
Feb 18th
By Rebecca Leber - thinkprogress.org
BP’s 2010 Gulf of Mexico spill is still affecting the lives of many Americans, particularly the tens of thousands that have not settled lawsuits with the company. Yet the company has bounced back from the billions it lost in the wake of the spill.
BP announced that its 2011 profit totaled $26 billion, a 114 percent jump from the year before, when the company’s “failure of supervision and accountability” caused the worst oil spill in U.S. history. As the company prepares for its upcoming trial, let’s take a look at how BP has made out after the Deepwater Horizon disaster:

Probiotics And Mitochondria: Bacteria Are Not “Other”
Feb 17th
By Sayer Ji – Wake Up World
The close symbiotic relationship between our bodies and intestinal bacteria is so profound that some scientists have suggested we be viewed as “metaorganisms.”
Indeed, without these friendly bacteria we could not perform critical life-sustaining functions, such as:
- Counteract vitamin B12 deficiency
- Produce the B-group vitamins, as a whole
- Break down pesticides
- Break down xenobiotic hormones like BPA
Probiotics also perform at least 30 essential biological functions, with 13 viewable below:

Scientists Prove You Can Think Your Way to Wellness

Sometimes it really is the thinking that makes it so. Spend your days focusing on your vibrant health and you will be vibrantly healthy. In contrast you could make it known that you lack a healthy lifestyle, and as a result you will continue to live an unhealthy lifestyle. While this belief is held by many, a recent study has come out with even mainstream scientists proclaiming the very real power of thought.
Scientists Find Promoting Own Wellbeing Leads to Longevity
During the 70s more than 8,000 individuals participated in a study where they self-rated their health and were given a medical checkup. Three decades later the participants were reassessed. While taking in risk factors such as tobacco, chronic diseases, and high blood pressure, the scientists found that the individuals who responded positively were more likely to outlive those who replied in the negative. In other words, positive thinking promotes healing and quality health.

Research: Roundup Diluted by 450-Fold is Still Toxic to DNA
Feb 16th
By Sayer Ji
New research released ahead of print and published in the journal Archives of Toxicology indicates that Roundup, the most common formulation of the herbicide glyphosate, is not only more toxic than its constituent ingredients, but is capable of damaging DNA within a human cell line when diluted down to 450-fold lower concentrations than presently used in GMO agricultural applications. In the researchers’ own words, Roundup has “genotoxic effects after short exposure to concentrations that correspond to a 450-fold dilution of spraying used in agriculture.”
The chemical - glyphosate – is the highest selling herbicide in the world and has been identified as having a wide range of potential adverse health effects — largely minimized and/or under-reported — which include over two dozen diseases. Glyphosate’s primary properties of concern are its carcinogenicity, genotoxicity and endocrine disruptive actions. Roundup contains a surfactant known as polyoxyethyleneamine which functions to reduce the surface tension between Roundup and the cells exposed to it, making the cellular membranes more permeable to absorbing glyphosate and other chemicals within the formula. The surfactant in Roundup may therefore be responsible for increasing the toxicity of glyphosate by several orders of magnitude higher than it exhibits by itself.

Self-Kindness: Seven Habits That Will Help You Live a Happier Life
Feb 16th
By Henrik Edberg
“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”
Henry James
“Kind words are short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”
Mother Teresa
No relationship in the world is more important than the one you have with yourself.
But still, people often have a far worse and far more destructive relationship with themselves than they have with other people.
So in this article I’d like to explore 7 habits that can help you to form a better and happier relationship with yourself. And as an extension of that probably better relationships with the people around you too.

Earth’s Magnetic Flux Changes
Feb 15th
By Chris Bourne

How are they affecting you?
Okay so you’ve seen the film about pole reversal in 2012. That may just be Hollywood, but personally I can say one thing for sure: the magnetic flux of the planet is changing towards a new alignment. I can feel it happening in my own field and the physical evidence is occurring with greater frequency now too. Mass animal deaths are occurring across the planet and waves of birds are simply falling from the sky. To me it relates directly to the magnetic frequency changes. So how are these shifts affecting you? What unseen impacts might they be having? And most importantly, how can we harmonise the shifts so as to align with Gaia and feel an increasing sense of well-being?…

Tips to Stay Healthy While Travelling
Feb 15th
By Dr. Mercola
Travel can increase the stress on your immune system, even if it’s for fun. If you’re not careful, you may come home from your trip with an unwelcome memento – like a cold or flu.
Some people even expect to get sick during a trip. But it doesn’t have to be that way!
It’s very important to take care of your immune health while traveling, whether it’s for business or pleasure.
Acupressure is the practice of pressing or massaging certain points on your body, which can stimulate your body’s self-curative abilities.

Chocolate: Candy or Cutting-Edge Medicine?
Feb 15th
By Sayer Ji
Chocolate is clearly one of the most enjoyed foods on the planet, and has one of the oldest documented histories of use going back to 1100 BC. And yet many still harbor guilt about consuming it because they associate it with “candy” and have never been exposed to the research indicating it may actually be closer to a “medicine.”
Now, new research from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has revealed that the consumption of chocolate, or its active constituents (cocoa, flavan-3-ols), reduces a broad range of risk factors for cardiovascular disease including insulin resistance. The researchers looked at 42 acute and long-term studies and found a 33% median reduction in insulin resistance following chocolate consumption.

Monsanto Found Guilty of Chemical Poisoning in France
Feb 14th
Contributing Writer for Wake Up World
In a major victory for public health and what will hopefully lead to other nations taking action, a French court decided today that GMO crops monster Monsanto is guilty of chemically poisoning a French farmer. The grain grower, Paul Francois, says he developed neurological problems such as memory loss and headaches after being exposed to Monsanto’s Lasso weedkiller back in 2004. The monumental case paves the way for legal action against Monsanto’s Roundup and other harmful herbicides and pesticides made by other manufacturers.

The Science of Television: Reading Viewers’ Minds to Create Popular Programming
Feb 14th
By Madison Ruppert
Contributing Writer for Wake Up World
In the past if television networks wanted to gauge audience reaction to a program before it went on air, they would have to create a focus group where consumers are paid to sit in a room and give feedback to a proctor. Now, that seems to be a practice which might forever be dashed in favor of high-tech mind reading methods which can actually better gauge the viewer’s engagement and enjoyment than they themselves can.
It sounds like the stuff of science fiction, but indeed highly advanced testing methods are able to better discern how viewers are responding to content than they consciously can.

Is Cancer An Ancient Survival Program Unmasked?
Feb 14th
By Sayer Ji – Wake Up Wolrd
Ever since Richard Nixon declared a war on cancer in 1971 through the signing of the National Cancer Act,[i] over a hundred billion dollars has been spent by our government on research and drug development in an attempt to eradicate the disease, with trillions more spent by the cancer patients themselves, but with disappointing results.
Even after four decades of waging full-scale conventional (surgery and chemo) and nuclear (radiotherapy) war against cancer, close to one in every four Americans will be diagnosed with the disease within their lifetimes. Could this colossal failure reflect how profoundly misunderstood the condition is, and misguided are our attempts to prevent and treat it?
