Used in the ancient Chinese and Indian systems of medicine, curcumin is a naturally powerful anticancer compound that has been found to decrease brain tumor size in animals by 81 percent in more than 9 studies. A derivative of turmeric, curcumin is the pigment responsible for turmeric’s yellow-orange color. Each 100 grams of turmeric contains around 3 to 5 grams of curcumin, though turmeric is a also very powerful on its own. New studies are shedding light on curcumin, and illuminating its numerous benefits on cancer and other diseases.

Researchers experimenting with curcumin in the treatment of a fatal brain cancer known as glioblastoma (GBMs) published their groundbreaking findings in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry in July. Adding scientific basis to previous findings surrounding the positive effects of curcumin, they showed that the compound dramatically decreased brain tumors in 9 out of the 11 studies examined by 81 percent. Furthermore, there was no evidence of toxicity, whereas chemotherapy and other cancer treatments often result in extreme side effects that are sometimes worse than the actual disease. Curcumin is not only effective against brain cancer, however.

According to a study conducted in 2008 and published in Cancer Prevention Research, curcumin also inhibits the growth and spread of breast cancer cells by directly impacting the function of alpha6beta4 integrin, responsible for cancer progression. Another study, performed in 2010, found that curcumin also has the potential to target cancer stem cells. Following the wave of information of curcumin, researchers who posted their findings in Molecular Pharmacology classified curcumin as a pancreatic cancer cell inhibitor back in 2009. Even more interesting is the fact that in most of these studies the researchers concluded that curcumin may also aid many different types of cancer that were not included in the trials.

While an amazing anticancer substance, studies have also pinpointed curcumin as a tool against more than 572 other diseases. Some of these include, in order of study count: oxidative stress, inflammation, DNA damage, lipid peroxidation, chemically-induced liver disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and liver fibrosis. Curcumin has even been found to influence more than 700 genes, which could explain its link to DNA repair.

Curcumin is an amazing natural compound that has profound effects on cancer and hundreds of other diseases. While it has been widely studied compared to many other nutritional substances, studies are only beginning to recognize the healing effects of curcumin and turmeric.

  • Excellent heads up, thanks. This is the sort of information that fundamentally threatens ‘their’ power-base, by helping to free folk from mental and physical dependency on Big Pharma, in whose best interest bad diet and ignorance of the truly amazing healing properties of so many of Nature’s substances, including foods that are everyday foods for some in the world. Knowledge is Power. Our ignorance is their bliss. File this data and pass it on…and keep it coming, Wake Up World! Peace.

So whats the best way to consume the tumeric? I assume we need a certain amount daily/weekly to get the right amount of curcumin… etc. So how can we get that amount in a way that preserves the health benefits of the spice? Is it meant to be hot? cold? with oil? with milk? Is the packet bought stuff at your supermarket ok? I have always wondered, because for most of us – the supermarket shelf variety of tumeric is all we have access to. Because of this, I am concerned that someone will patent the active curcumin compound and it will only ever be available in pill form.

With the turmeric, the best way to take it is to eat it regularly in cooking, about 1/2 teaspoon per meal is all I would use in powdered form. With fresh turmeric, grate it and use about 1/3rd of a teaspoon. People can grow it so easily in their gardens and it grows very prolifically.
      1 teaspoon turmeric
      1 teaspoon olive oil
      1 tablespoon milk
Mix in a glass and drink twice a day for three days.
N.B. If you are unfamiliar with turmeric, be aware that the powder can stain and needs to be handled with care”

I just recently gathered information on a few herbs and spices. For curcumin this is what was recommended: Curcumin – antioxidant; anti-inflammatory 1-3 grams. Place it on the back of you tongue and drink tea or water to wash it down. I have high levels of inflammation, heart disease and diabetes and I started feeling better while decreasing my prescription meds after about 3 weeks. I bough a 1 lb bag of organic curcumin for about$15. from

consume crushed raw curcumin as we use other spices i have develop healthy methods of cooking coz in our region cooking styles r ver2. Cut onion, garlic, green chilies, tomato and the vegetable you want to cook. Put this mixture of vegetables into a steel bowl. Place a utensil bigger than that steel bowl on fire with water in it for steam formation. Now place that vegetable filled steel bowl in big utensil and cover the big utensil. The steam so formed will tender the vegetables. Now take out the vegetable containing bowl and put edible oil 1-2 table spoon per head, fresh lemon juice and spices in it and mix it well. This is highly nutritional food that is easy to digest and good for constipation.y unhealthy.

The best way I have seen to take turmeric is to place a small amount, about a teaspoon to tablespoon, depending on what you can swallow comfortably. Add a little water and roll it into a small round ball, swallow with a warm water or tea with no caffeine.

I am a two time cancer survivor and a I live life to the fullest extent of my physical abilities I mean I play hard like each day is the last one. And I am able to hike and play in the surf with little pain, which are the best reasons why I know that turmeric works. I tried all the Big Pharma drugs and got no or very little relief and a lot of side effects that I do not miss. I have been cooking with it and taking supplements for 6 years. The Western doctors are amazed, truly amazed, with my recoveries. I recommend making sure it is Organic Certified or grow your own turmeric patch and keep your joints lubed, your tumors in check and food healthy.

I have massive abdominal adhesion scar tissue built up all around my abdomen. They are attached to every single organ and just everywhere. Anytime I move there is painful stretching and tearing, which just causes more to grow. this has been going on for years and years.
Does anyone know of an external compress and/or internal herbal recipe that will help shrink or dissolve these painful adhesions?
