Astrology Update: 2014 – the Year of Individuated Authority

At the moment the astrology chart is all over the place, and I am sure we are all experiencing this in one way or another. As I have been working through the current theme of the year, I started to see the invitation we are being offered from the cosmos. We are having and will continue to have lessons or insights into mending our inner authority.

Since 2011, the human collective began to wake up to the distortions of external authorities and their hold on us.  Uranus is in Aries, square Pluto in Capricorn, and with the support of Saturn in Scorpio, we most certainly have been seeing this reality for what it is. No sugar coating it! But personally I would not have it any other way.

With the 2014 Cardinal Cross and the Lunar and Solar eclipses that all happened in April, we got a clear message. Out with the old! The paradigm shift from the Cardinal Cross is now forcing us to act on what needs to be done; to strengthen our connection to spirit. In order to do this we need to connect to ourselves. To feel the feminine healing energy within us and to let our intuition guide and protect us, we must quieten our minds and allow this inner voice to be heard.

At the moment Saturn is in retrograde motion in Scorpio and opposing the sun in Taurus. This symbolic synchronicity is saying that we need to stay grounded and reflect in on our own authority. It is through re-establishing our sense of individuated authority that we can find ourselves again and begin to take our power back; to stop looking outside ourselves for answers.

Saturn opposing the Sun will make us very aware of feeling stuck (Taurus) or blocked (Saturn). It is, in a sense, meant to do this. The pressure of feeling blocked and stuck builds a frustrating energy within us. The need to break free! It is setting us up for the next big event. The new phase relationship between Uranus and Venus. This is big and will be happening from about the 20th  of May onwards.

We have to back up a little before we can take advantage of the new seeds of growth and liberation. For us to move forward with our new found freedom within ourselves we have to clear out outdated belief systems that are holding us back. Beliefs which have disconnected us from ourselves and removed our inner authority.

To support this whole theme is the full moon in Scorpio happening on the 14th  of May. This has a clear message; become aware of, and completely let go of, old emotional attachments that are no longer serving you. Perspective change is on the horizon and you don’t want to be forced to be made aware of what’s not working for you by Uranus, believe me! Old belief patterns attached to external authority conditioning, which are preventing us from being more in tune with our higher selves, are being brought to the surface. If we choose to let go of these beliefs, we reap the rewards of living our highest Joy – living the life, and being the person we want to be.

The sun in Taurus is the polarity of the full moon, and is also the big flashlight in the sky saying “I can help” by helping us to stay grounded and focus on our inner world. It is also asking us to slow down and reflect, and to keep our hearts open and understand that we are all in this together. See the infinite field of love available to you! Hold space! Everything will be okay! Even if it feels as though the rug is being pulled from under your feet.

So as we clear out the noise from our lives and we strengthen our relationship to ourselves, we are making room for the new. The ending cycle between Venus and Uranus prepares us for the new; the integration of our higher, more valued and liberated selves.

The stronger we acknowledge our inner authority and integrate it into our lives, the more we are going to see the change in the outer world. We live in exciting times and the last 3 years have been extremely important and impactful for our spiritual growth. We are now entering the next phase; a period of time where the speed at which everything is moving is more demanding of us to be in a higher state of vibration. See the old conditioned self fade away! It is no longer who you are! In fact it never was you to begin with! And support others to do the same! Be the change!

The Nature of Our Times

In order to “be the change”, it’s important that we pay close attention  to what’s happening below the surface of our lives.

The first major aspect we are currently experiencing is Pluto, the symbol of evolution itself, and Uranus, the symbol of revolution. These two are having a serious conversation with each other at the moment and this is how it’s going down…

Pluto will enforce evolution by bringing up all the dirty aspects and hidden secretes in whatever sign it’s in, and forcing confrontation. Pluto is basically saying “deal with it now!” Outdated or old patterns can no longer exist and will be replaced with new knowledge and understandings. The new model simply does not support the old ways any more.

Here is a great way to explain this point. Let’s say you have a personal computer from the year 2005. You then install the new 2013 version of windows on it. Take a guess what’s going to happen?? The new version of windows will simply not work. The old computer won’t be unable to handle the requirements. Why? It’s outdated.  The new model simply does not support the old ways any more.

Uranus has a very interesting character. He represents to us, in evolutionary terms, our individual unique identity – In other words, our inner rebel. Uranus energy creates an unconscious need for change, to rebel from the existing conditioning, and in this way he helps evolution take place. Uranus helps us not get stuck in confining patterns.

Okay, now that we have a clear image of the two symbols, let’s see how it’s actually working in reality.

Pluto is in the sign of Capricorn from 2008 until 2021. Capricorn represents all forms of structure. Think of a house: it has walls, a roof, doors and windows. This is the structure and framework of the house. Now replace the walls and roof and such with governments, and financial and societal structures. Can you see where I am going with this?

Pluto going through Capricorn is bringing to the fore all the dirty secretes, hidden agendas and corruption of our governments, political structures and so forth. This is manifesting in the breakdown of financial system, the housing market, and the corrupt food and health systems – and this is to name a few. The people are now demanding to know what is going on (Pluto) and who is responsible (Capricorn). The truth is being revealed on all levels.

Uranus is in the sign Aries from 2010 till 2019. Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, and symbolizes new beginnings. In evolutionary terms, the Aries energy is trying to define itself through initiating new experiences, and it needs the necessary freedom and independence to do so.  Uranus in Aries is looking at the collective identity, feeling that it needs to revolutionize and re-identify itself in a completely new and unconditioned way. The people are reinventing their identities.

Let’s Put It All Together

Pluto in Capricorn squaring Uranus in Aries drives us, the collective identity, to take down outdated structures through revolution and re-identifying our society on every level.  We don’t like what we are seeing, and we, the people, demand change!

This now shows up as Occupy movements, revolutions, protests, riots, financial crises, not to forget the famous internet hackers group Anonymous.  Have you noticed how your Facebook (Uranus energy) posts have now become flooded with images of how to change your life, quotes and posts about how to live, groups forming revealing truths about everything. This is the reflection of the change that is taking place within us.

As the old structures are being broken down and the new are yet to be defined, it is natural to feel a deep sense of insecurity and anxiety. What we know gives us security. The unknown brings worry. As most of our sense of security lies in the framework of our societies, you can see how it is being unhinged with these changes. If you take a look around you, you can see this happening.

The best way to deal with this is to live in the moment and try to accept the changes that are taking place, as they are all for the betterment of the people. Try to see the positive in the new growth, allow new fresh ideas to be a part of you and let go of the past. Embrace the change and be excited about the future we are creating for ourselves. For the more resistance we offer, the more its going to feel like things are crumbling around us. Just shift your focus to the moment.

The beautiful thing about the universe is that it always supports us. It never allows for just madness to exist.

Neptune recently entered the sign Pisces. This represents transcendence, unconditional love and compassion. Neptune will bring insights which will allow for a deeper connection to the spirit. We also have the support of Jupiter in Cancer, which is aiding us intuitively, feeling what’s right and offering guidance on matters of security. These factors are the universe’s way of bringing balance on the situation.

These supporting energies are easiest to bring into our lives if we just allow them to come through our intuition, through being centered and grounded. Unlike Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries, these aspects are not of a forceful nature; they bring guidance to those who seek it within. But we first have to remove the noise, so trying out things like yoga, meditation, being in nature and mindfulness are ways to do this.

As we connect to ourselves and allow the love and compassion to guide us in the creation of the new structures, it will become a part of the reality we are building around us; one where unconditional love will replace extensive greed. We will create a world for the people.
