The High Festival of the Solstice: Astrology Forecast December 16–23, 2018

December 16th, 2018

It is quite rare that a Full Moon festival coincides with one of the four cardinal points of the equinoxes and solstices – as does this 2018 Capricorn solar festival. The potencies of both these cycles are brought together. The Full Moon period of five days overlaps the solstice period of three days, creating a still point window between December 20–25.

The Solstice literally means “the Sun stands still” at the darkest point of the year in the Northern hemisphere. At 0 degrees of Capricorn ruled by Saturn Lord of Time and Karma, for a brief period time becomes fluid, plastic and meaningless. The Capricorn Full Moon solar festival occurs simultaneously with the Solstice, literally super-charging the Christ-Mass solstice period of 2018. Capricorn is the sign of the initiate, the most mysterious sign where the Dweller on the Threshold transmutes the forces of materialism and reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas.

This Full Moon known as the Cold Moon is a harbinger of the epochal astrology of 2019–20 when Saturn and Pluto merge in Capricorn for the first time since 1517. The Sun conjunct Ixion on the Galactic Centre is square shaman Chiron and Mars and trine awakener Uranus. Moon at 0 degrees Cancer is gently nurturing, reminding you that you can’t care for others unless you look after yourself. It’s an excellent time to collaborate with Solstice still point by taking time out to de-stress, relax and care for your body. Work with Chiron and give yourself the medicine you need.

Cancer 1 – A potter at work.

“Carving out a sacred place for what you most care about to flourish. Giving your all to a task or project, a way of life or shared stream. Socio-culturally gifted. Selecting out what you feel pulled to cultivate and foster and eliminating all other factors. You feel nurturing, sustaining, giving, but unwilling and unable to recognize and come to terms with shadows and difficulties. So intent upon creating a perfect world or vessel that you miss whatever you do not want to see. And this is a precarious edge to walk.”

Aries Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

Circle December 19–25 in your diary or calendar as days to cut yourself some slack. It goes without saying that it’s a busy and sociable time of the year, but a Full Moon on the Solstice across your zones of career and home suggests that you it’s past time to create a more harmonious work/life balance. And that starts with you. Make yourself your top priority this week and come up with some enjoyable ways to nurture your wellbeing – physically, mentally and spiritually. January 2019 is going to kickstart your year with some big decisions to make so it’s all the more important you are well rested and relaxed.

Ask yourself:” If I were to consistently put my own highest interests first, what would I do differently right now?”

Taurus Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

On Saturday the 21st the Sun leaves the depths of your 8th House and issues you’ve been grappling with somehow seem more manageable. You’re emerging from quite a long period of soul searching and more than ready for some down time. The Full Moon on Sunday in compatible Earth sign Capricorn helps you to feel more at home in your own skin. Notice where your focus of attention goes as this Full Moon delivers a clue to how January’s potent astrology and eclipses will play out for you. With your ruler Venus in your relationship zone all month, offer to mend fences or rebuild bridges and people will respond in the same spirit.

Feel the love.

Gemini Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

Whatever your circumstances, this year the holidays will have more meaning than usual. Out of all the signs, you have Jupiter and Mercury lighting up your relationship zone attracting friends, allies and collaborators to your side. Expect offers of support and invitations to the festivities. The only caveat is that Jupiter at odds with illusionist Neptune may make you take your eye off the ball where work or finances are concerned. Don’t make a drama out of it but keep tabs on the bottom line. Circle the dates December 19–23 as days for you and gift yourself with an experience that makes you smile.

Better times ahead.

Cancer Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

This year for the first time in a long time the Solstice coincides with the annual Full Moon in your sign. This intensifies the power, influence and significance of both. For you more than any other sign, it’s important to collaborate with these few days of time out of time by creating a still point at the heart of your life. Two weeks after this Full Moon a wild card eclipse will blow the winds of change through your sign, so create a sanctuary for rest, revival and healing. Play soothing music and let your soul remind you of what really matters.

Looking after yourself is not selfish, it’s non-negotiable.

Leo Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

The approaching holidays look as if they’re going to be some of the happiest in years for you as a solar Leo. With both Mercury and Jupiter lighting up your 5th House of fun, leisure, romance and creativity, your options are many and varied. Make a note of the dates 19–23 December when the Solstice coincides with a Full Moon in the deepest part of your chart. Time will seem to flow more slowly and you have the luxury of remembering good times past. Send a greeting to special people you’ve lost touch with along the way and you will be surprised at who responds.

Feeling the real meaning of Christmas.

Virgo Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

It’s time to lift your head from work and reacquaint yourself with the world around you. Take a break from virtual reality and come back to here and now. With both reality planets Saturn and Pluto making hard work of having fun, override your innate sense of duty and take some downtime for yourself. Switch from chronos linear time to chairos time out of time for three days between December 20–22 and just notice how much better you feel. Your body will thank you. With Neptune in your relationship zone, healing at a very deep level is available to you now.

Rest, revival and recovery.

Libra Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

The December Solstice always marks the time when the Sun – our Light – crosses the base of your chart beginning a new 6 month cycle that will come to fruition next June. This year a Full Moon in Cancer doubles the potency of the Solstice, nudging you to stop and consider how you’re feeling about the direction your life is taking. If you continue on the same trajectory, where will you be this time next year? Is there a harmonious balance between home and work? Channel the 3 days of stillness of the Solstice to bring your attention back to Now and to acknowledge just how far you’ve come in 2018.

A new start.

Scorpio Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

As the festivities start, just think how lucky you are to be the sign hosting Venus for the entire month. Life feels brighter, people respond to you and you are at home in your own skin. Just take care that generous Jupiter in your financial zone doesn’t encourage you to splash the cash a little too freely so you blow your budget. At the weekend a Full Moon in compatible Water sign Cancer arrives at the Solstice when the urge to broaden your horizons becomes irresistible. If you decide to take a spur of the moment trip, do it before January 6th when an eclipse will disrupt travel.

Seize the day!

Sagittarius Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

Are you feeling the love yet? With your personal planet Jupiter back in your sign for the first time since 2001, the festive season promises to be magical. But don’t just bask in the warm glow, take some quiet time between December 19–22nd at the Solstice to connect with your most heartfelt hopes and dreams. It’s all too easy to lose sight of them in the day to day routine of life but now, with a beautiful Full Moon in Cancer reminding you of who and what you love and cherish, make them the very centre of your life. If you start 2019 with your Desire Map as your blueprint, the sky’s the limit.

Coming home to yourself.

Capricorn Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

Take heart! From next weekend life will feel a lot brighter. On Friday December 21st the Sun leaves the deepest, most hidden part of your chart and returns to Capricorn. You’ll feel your batteries – physical, emotional and spiritual – recharging. Adding to your joie de vivre, on Sunday 22nd the annual Full Moon in Cancer activates your relationship zone. If you’re hoping to take a partnership to the next stage or deciding to call it a day, all will become clear and you’ll know what to do. Just remember that from January 2019 your life will start a completely new chapter and take time out to think long term.

Not just surviving but thriving.

Aquarius Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

Next weekend the Solstice plus a Full Moon signal a 4 week period when the Sun is tucked away in the deepest most hidden part of your chart. This doesn’t mean that you will be a Christmas grinch but that you’ll need more rest and quiet time than usual. The gift in this are new and exciting insights into creative projects that will keep you engaged for months to come. 2019 is going to be an opportunity to live out some of those life goals you’d almost given up on, including working for yourself, so take note of your night time dreams – they have important information for you.

Peace and quiet.

Pisces Weekly Forecast: December 16–23, 2018

Plan to get most of your work, shopping and routine chores done by Friday December 21st so that you can make the very most of the Solstice and the Full Moon in compatible Water sign Cancer. By that I mean taking quiet time for yourself, creating a sanctuary or a bolthole and making your top priority your physical and emotional wellbeing. January 2019 is going to get off to a strong start with two wild card eclipses bringing the winds of change so the best gift you can give yourself is space, time, love and peace. Everything will seem better after that.

Life has your back – trust it.
