Got ideals? Do something about them.

This week begins with a Mercury-Neptune conjunction on Monday, blending inspiration, intuition and innovation into one idealistically inclined burst of wonder. This is energy which can carry you right through the week and which sets the tone for a collective drive to make things better.

For once, this isn’t just a fizzle of idealism which fades away when confronted with life’s stark realities. There are numerous helpful sextiles in play this week which keep prodding us and showing us what’s possible, even when circumstances say no.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Venus and the Sun respectively sextile taskmaster Saturn, making it both easy and enjoyable to apply yourself to the task in hand. Getting co-operation from others is a piece of cake if you can sell your vision in positive terms, and since Venus and the Sun are approaching this from never-say-no Aries, the power of enthusiasm will easily overturn any lingering doubts others around you may have.

Use the first part of the week to talk to people and to gather support for whatever it is that you want or need to get done. Make it something for the collective good, not for your own personal gain.

The second half of the week sees Mercury sextile Pluto on Friday, demonstrating how rational argument can persuade the powers that be or the authority figures in your life that you a) know what you’re doing, b) are right to be doing it and c) will make them look good if they co-operate.

Against this persuasive backdrop, you can expect permissions to magically materialize, obstacles to fade away, arguments to be won and the path ahead to be cleared – just in time for Mercury’s arrival in go-getting Aries on Saturday. From here, we are empowered to be thought leaders, way showers, knights and guides, charting a course and setting a direction ahead which others will follow.

Essentially then, make sure you know what you want to do, what your ideals are, and what difference you intend to make. Use this week’s energy to work on community issues or causes close to your heart, in the full expectation that you can and will inspire others to work with you.

Although the focus is on idealism and collective progress, there’s much you can do with this week’s astrology in your personal life too.

The fire signs – Aries, Leo and Sagittarius – can work on subconscious traumas, family issues and forgiveness this week. If you do the inner work necessary, you will end the week feeling more free and adventurous, and able to leave behind some of the emotional baggage you’ve been carrying recently.

The earth signs – Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn – are well on board with teamwork and collective enterprise, but you can also use these cosmic energies to work on building strength in your social tribe. Focus on interpersonal relationships, from close friendships and romance right through to the stranger you smile at in the street.

The air signs – Gemini, Libra and Aquarius – are looking at a very constructive working week; all those helpful sextiles encourage focus and hard work, and are also great for manifesting abundance, new opportunities and new avenues at work and in your career. Level up your skills and sell your many talents.

The water signs – Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces – can work on self-confidence, self-esteem and a positive life attitude with this energy. Get creative, have some fun, express yourselves. Don’t be afraid to show off your authentic self. Use these constructive astrological vibes to shift your thinking towards a brighter future.

Overall, this is a week for seizing on the good, after so much pain and negativity. The cosmos is giving us a (short) break – grab it with all you’ve got, and enjoy.
