How Does the Alkaline Diet Affect Gut Health?

How Does the Alkaline Diet Affect Gut Health?

The alkaline diet is a popular diet aimed at managing acidity levels within the body. The alkaline diet claims you can consume certain foods to adjust your body’s acidity, or pH levels, to improve your health.[1]

The pH scale runs from 0 (acidic) to 14 (basic or alkaline); 7 is neutral.[2] The body uses nutrients and electrolytes to maintain balance, which exists within a narrow pH range. It requires a slightly alkaline environment between 7.35 and 7.45, usually around 7.4.[3]

The human body is a complex collection of systems, organs, and fluids that work together to sustain life. While some systems seem more important than others, each one has a very specific purpose. When the various bits and pieces work together in harmony we call it homeostasis. If just one system is out of balance, homeostasis is disrupted and health and wellness can suffer. Although your body’s pH is important, it is one of many components that contribute to homeostasis.

3 Effective Health Supplements for Chemtrail Protection

3 Effective Health Supplements for Chemtrail Protection

Public awareness of chemtrails is on the rise. According to Google Trends, the keyword search for “chemtrails” was at its highest ever in Google’s history in April of 2016 (the link to this chart can be seen here.) Contributing to this trend was late musician Prince’s YouTube video in which he discussed chemtrails, Chuck Norris (no this isn’t a Chuck Norris joke!) writing an article exposing chemtrails, and Vin Diesel also highlighting the reality of chemtrails/geoengineering on his Facebook page.

Geoengineering particulate typically include heavy metals like aluminum, barium, strontium, arsenic, lead, mercury, copper, manganese, and uranium, which can accumulate in the body and brain with devastating effects. With public awareness increasing, I began to think about ways we can protect ourselves against the harmful effects of chemtrails — and there are a number of health supplements that I would like to share with you today.

Detox water has become a wildly popular diet craze. Many hail it as a miracle diet and think it can support weight loss. Could this be a revolutionary new way to drop pounds and trim the physique, or is it just another fad diet? Let’s start by understanding what detox water is.

What Is Detox Water?

Detox water is basically water (I recommend distilled water) infused with fruits, vegetables, and/or herbs. Sometimes called infused water, many people use it as part of a body detox strategy.

Detoxify, Rejuvenate and Feel Fantastic – Fast!

A Simple Way to Regain and Maintain Your Health

It’s funny: when searching for a nice image to go with this article, the only picture coming up for “fasting” was an empty plate with knife and fork. Quite unimaginative, let alone positive. But it probably shows what many people associate with the word “fasting”: lack, going hungry, no food allowed, a punitive act even.

To me, fasting represents none of those. While some people use it for weight loss, this is not my motivation. Shedding weight may be a welcome side effect, but not the reason for fasting. That is something else: to give the digestive system a break and to detoxify the body. Simple as that. One can fast for shorter or longer periods: we do it every night, breaking fast every morning, at breakfast. So don’t say you can’t do it, because, if you can read this, you’re already an expert of many years. 🙂

Zeolite: A Safe Natural Detox Used in Asia for Over 800 Years

Zeolite: A Safe Natural Detox Used in Asia for Over 800 Years

With thousands of detoxes out there these days it’s hard to know what works and what doesn’t. Many detox products remove only a limited range of toxins from the body and add a burden to the body’s excretory systems. But, with an increasing amount of chemicals introduced to our environment each year, finding a detox solution that works is so important.

Zeolite is a natural volcanic mineral which, like hemp, is known for its ability to absorb radioactive and heavy metals like cesium and strontium-90 in environments affected by nuclear disaster. Although people in Asia have been taking it as a health remedy for more than 800 years, modern science is only beginning to catch up to its health benefits as a dietary supplement.

7 Sacred Herbs for Activating and Harmonizing the Chakras

7 Sacred Herbs for Activating and Harmonizing the Chakras

While the chakras themselves are energetic/etheric in nature, they each have corresponding physical organs, glands and systems in the body that can, and do, have an effect on their functioning. When the associated organ/gland/system is weak or out of balance, the relevant chakra will be under active; and when the associated organ/system is balanced and healthy, the chakra will generally be in harmony.

This interconnectivity of the physical and etheric bodies goes the other way as well—if there is an energetic imbalance in a chakra, for example, as a result of emotional disturbances, then this can also cause the associated physical elements to become weak as well. As such, it is important to not only address physical imbalances with herbs and lifestyle adjustments, but also on an energetic level as well with breathwork, meditation, kriya/tantric yoga, qigong or whatever your preferred flavor of energetic medicine.

Quitting Smoking? Try These Herbs, Tips and Incentives to Help You Succeed!

“A cigarette is the only consumer product which, when used as directed, kills its consumer.” ~ Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland

Since the 1950s the public has been aware of the dangers of tobacco, and yet the industry continues to thrive. Thinking we’re more powerful than a lowly weed, we allow ourselves to be seduced by the sexy allure of tobacco only to realise, once it’s too late, that we weren’t quite as impervious to its charms as we hoped.

In Native American culture tobacco was viewed as a sacred plant that was used in a ritual context. By limiting its use to ceremonies major problems of addiction were avoided. Today in Western culture the custodians of tobacco are no longer the community’s wise men and women – instead they are some of the most greedy and morally-corrupt corporations on earth, entities that prioritise profit over individual welfare.

Alcohol Overload? How to Minimise the Harmful Effects of Excess Drinking

Alcohol Overload? How to Minimise the Harmful Effects of Excess Drinking

“It only takes one drink to get me drunk, but I can’t remember if it’s the thirteenth or fourteenth.” ~ George Burns (1896 – 1996)

Excessive alcohol consumption is often considered a central part of being social and having a good time. One of the reasons it is so popular is because so many people in today’s society are affected by stress and self-consciousness. And as alcohol is considered a legal, ‘socially acceptable’ substance that helps us to relax and lessen our inhibitions, it tends to be the drug of choice for many.

Unfortunately alcohol isn’t as innocuous as the playful, comforting advertising campaigns would like us to believe. It is a drug, after all. The damaging effects of excess alcohol go beyond the humiliation of doing something silly, like dancing on our boss’ desk at the annual Christmas party. Many studies have clearly demonstrated that alcohol can have extensive negative effects on our social, psychological and physical health.

Are You Sick of Feeling Sick? These 4 Steps Can Help You Naturally Heal Your Immune System

Are You Sick of Feeling Sick? These 4 Steps Can Help You Naturally Heal Your Immune System

By Dr. Kelly Neff

Autoimmune disease is caused by an overreaction of the body’s immune system. This happens when systemic inflammation triggers your body’s cells to attack themselves. Inflammation is usually understood as some combination of pain, swelling, redness and heat. It might be easy to observe on the outside of the body, but when it happens inside the body, we usually know something is wrong, but we are not quite sure what it is.

As many as 50 million people suffer from autoimmune disease, ranking it in the top 10 causes of death for women under the age of 65. There are more than 80 recognized types of autoimmune disease, including Celiac Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Hashimoto’s, Graves Disease, and many more.

How Fluoride Damages Pineal Gland Health

How Fluoride Damages Pineal Gland Health

By Dr. Edward F. Group

Fluoride was originally added to the water supply sometime around the end of World War II in an effort to improve overall dental health. Despite the well wishes, the public did not anticipate the physical health dangers. Now, more and more people are recognizing the effects, and one of those is how it damages the pineal gland.

If you’ve never heard of the pineal gland, know it’s got a pretty important job. Located in the center of the brain, it’s responsible for melatonin synthesis (which plays a role in maintaining normal rhythms and sleep cycles), and also helps convert signals between our nervous and endocrine systems.

Unfortunately, the pineal gland can develop problems because it can also absorb a lot of fluoride — even more than our bones.

9 Reasons Why Sauna Bathing is an Awesome Healthy Living Habit!

9 Reasons Why Sauna Bathing is an Awesome Healthy Living Habit!

By Katrin Geist

Guest Writer for Wake Up World

Have you ever wondered why sauna bathing feels so good? Or why it’s supposedly so healthy? As a child, I didn’t like the steamy, hot air and couldn’t fathom what adults enjoyed about taking a sauna. Today, I’d love to have one at home, especially in winter. View points change.

The word “sauna” is of Finnish origin, apparently the only Finnish word that made it into the English language. Merriam-Webster defines it as: “A Finnish steam bath in which the steam is provided by water thrown on hot stones; also : a bathhouse or room used for such a bath.” The recommended temperature is 80 – 100 °C (176 -212 °F) at face level and 30 °C at floor level. The air has a relative humidity of 10-20% (Hannuksela & Ellahham 2001). A usual sauna bath consists of several short stays between 5 and 20 minutes, interspersed with cooling-off periods, and followed by adequate fluid intake.

So while sauna bathing is an old, traditional practice the world over for cleansing and rejuvenating the body, what does current science say about its health benefits? How often should we enjoy a sauna? What’s the best practice, and are there pitfalls to avoid while sauna bathing? Let’s take a look.

Incorporating Rituals For Boosting Bliss Into Everyday Life

Incorporating Rituals For Boosting Bliss Into Everyday Life

By Indra

When we experience ‘bliss’, we are tuning into the state of consciousness that is experienced through the full activation of frequencies in the body. When we are aligned with our bliss instinct, we feel good. Some people associate bliss with a sexual feeling; to me it is much more – it is the expression of the language of the soul. It is a heightened state of sensation, when there is fullness in presence, completeness in being, and (more than anything) less thinking and more feeling.

And that’s really the goal of holistic living; to get to a place where that sensation of happiness and bliss is at the core of your life, and everything else (blissful or otherwise) revolves around its center. However, we can all testify that this is not how we live our lives and it is not how we have been taught to live our lives. For this reason, it is important to our spiritual development that we start questioning our limiting beliefs and consciously decide if they are the best ones for our overall growth and happiness.
