A concerning new study suggests that decades of medical procedures performed on infants without pain management has had deeply traumatizing effects.

A groundbreaking study published in eLife, titled “fMRI reveals neural activity overlap between adult and infant pain”, demonstrates that the infant pain experience, despite long held assumptions to the contrary, closely resembles that of adults.

Researchers discovered that when 1-6 day old babies were exposed to the same pain stimulus as adults, their brains “lit up” in almost exactly the same manner. More specifically, infant and adult pain responses were indistinguishable in 18 of the 20 regions observed through fMRI imaging. The only two brain regions that pain did not show activation in the infants were the amygdala and the orbitofrontal cortex: two regions believed to help with the interpretation of pain stimuli.

“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself.” ~ Zen

The belief that parents are creators of children is one of several false assumptions in the hypnosis of life. This delusion is emotionally sustained by the misunderstood interpretation of the parental instinct.

The parent living under natural law — Intelligence, the mysterious expression of all that exists — knows that their primary role as good stewards (caretakers) is in the protection of the child from cultural predators. The parent who does not live under the guidance of Intelligence and who responds to life’s challenges from their indoctrinated state, believe it their loving duty to train up the child in accordance with their cultural traditions passed down from past generations. There is no freedom in looking at life’s challenges when that seeing is through the lens of past knowledge.

If You Want To Accelerate Brain Development In Children, Teach Them Music

If You Want To Accelerate Brain Development In Children, Teach Them Music

Music, the universal language of mood, emotion and desire, connects with us through a wide variety of neural systems.

We now know from controlled treatment/outcome studies that listening to and playing music is a potent treatment for mental health issues. 400 published scientific papers have proven the old adage that “music is medicine.” In fact, research demonstrates that adding music therapy to treatment improves symptoms and social functioning among schizophrenics. Further, music therapy has demonstrated efficacy as an independent treatment for reducing depression, anxiety and chronic pain.

Importantly, music education also appears to accelerate brain development in young children, particularly in the areas of the brain responsible for processing sound, language development, speech perception and reading skills, according to initial results of a five-year study by USC neuroscientists.

The Black Sheep – Is It Okay to Leave Your Biological Family?

The Black Sheep – Is It Okay to Leave Your Biological Family?

“You did not invent these family habits. Your family is like mine; for thousands and thousands of years our families have embraced a dysfunctional lifestyle, passing these habits as gospel on to subsequent generations. This was not done out of malice, spite, or hate, but what they knew best.” ~ David W. Earle

As we heal our family-related aspects, our personal energy patterns and behaviors change. As we evolve, awaken and become more aware, our past participation in negative family patterns emerge, are magnified and become obvious. Our participation no longer appeals to or nurtures us. This can be especially so if trauma and drama are the norm within the family.

Because of the connectivity with our biological family, our healing impacts the family patterns. Our healing may be a premium invitation for the family to take a look at their own unhealed and active aspects, especially family-related ones. Yet there can be resistance to our change, and their healing, if established familial patterns continue to serve them. Families can become stuck in ruts, comfortable with the status quo and unwilling to make the herculean step of getting out of disfunction.

Healing Without Hurting

When your child suffers from autism, ADD/ADHD, anxiety or other developmental and behavioral issues, it’s easy to fall into the trap of a promised ‘quick fix’ regarding pharmaceutical medications. After all, you trust your child’s doctor, what’s to question? As it turns out, quite a bit.

Unfortunately, most parents are not told that these pharmaceuticals can unleash a host of unpleasant, if not dangerous, side-effects — including increased anger, depression, fogginess, as well as seizures, paranoia, tics and psychosis. Many times, parents feel these effects are worse than the original ailment the meds were aimed to treat. But this doesn’t mean you have to choose between pharmaceutical intervention or simply suffering through the disorder. A myriad of natural therapies and treatments have a strong track record of improving the lives of countless children diagnosed with developmental delay and behavioral issues.

It Didn’t Start With You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are

It Didn’t Start With You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are

By Mark Wolynn

A well-documented feature of trauma, one familiar to many, is our inability to articulate what happens to us. We not only lose our words, but something happens with our memory as well. During a traumatic incident, our thought processes become scattered and disorganized in such a way that we no longer recognize the memories as belonging to the original event. Instead, fragments of memory, dispersed as images, body sensations, and words, are stored in our unconscious and can become activated later by anything even remotely reminiscent of the original experience. Once they are triggered, it is as if an invisible rewind button has been pressed, causing us to reenact aspects of the original trauma in our day-to-day lives. Unconsciously, we could find ourselves reacting to certain people, events, or situations in old, familiar ways that echo the past.

Sigmund Freud identified this pattern more than one hundred years ago. Traumatic re-enactment, or “repetition compulsion,” as Freud coined it, is an attempt of the unconscious to replay what’s unresolved,so we can “get it right.” This unconscious drive to relive past events could be one of the mechanisms at work when families repeat unresolved traumas in future generations.

The School System: The Incarceration of Children

The School System: The Incarceration of Children

CAFOs, also known as Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, are confined feedlots in which animals raised for food products are kept in confined prison-like conditions absent of natural vegetation. Here, animals are kept outside of their natural habitat and fed feed they would not eat in nature. The filthy conditions and poor nutrition make for sick animals, so the CAFOs depend heavily on antibiotics which are given prophylactically. Beef and dairy cattle, pigs, turkeys, and chickens are among the animals in the more than 257,000 AFOS in the United States.

Rather than eat native foods such as grasses, vegetation and insects, they are “fed” mostly genetically modified crops such as soy and corn, or cereal based feed made from these crops. Instead of eliminating waste naturally on the land, which acts as fertilizer, the waste is stored in anaerobic “lagoons”. These cesspools of waste emit carbon dioxide, methane and ammonia into the air and leach antibiotics, endocrine disruptors, heavy metals and bacteria into the land. Without going much further in to the devastating science of why CAFOs are bad for human and animal health, and our environment, it is safe to say that animals do best in their natural habitat, living, reproducing, eating and eliminating as nature intended, and that we as omnivores do best when eating food raised in its wild or natural habitat.

Decline in Childhood Play Related to Rising Anxiety and Depression in Children, Adolescents

Decline in Childhood Play Related to Rising Anxiety and Depression in Children, Adolescents

“We are never more fully alive, more completely ourselves, or more deeply engrossed in anything than when we are playing.” ~ Charles Schaefer

Every generation since the 1950s has experienced a decline in free play. During the holidays in my parent’s generation, kids left the house in the morning and were told to be home by dinner. They went out into the streets, met up with other neighbourhood kids and played all day long. During my own childhood things were a little more supervised, but we still had ample time to play beyond the watchful eyes of our parents.

Today most children are rarely left to their own devices. In an attempt keep our kids safe and provide them with all they need to ensure they have every chance for a happy, successful life, we fill up their days with activities, structured opportunities to learn and seductive screen time. However, as well meaning as this approach might be, there is increasing evidence that it may be doing more harm than good.

CDC Concealed Link Between Thimerosal and Autism for Over a Decade, Forced to Release Incriminating Documents

A long-held debate between pro- and anti-vaccination groups may finally be put to rest over the association between thimerosal — a preservative composed of 49.5% ethyl mercury used in numerous child and flu vaccines — and neurological disorders, particularly autism.

For nearly a decade, biochemist Brian Hooker, Ph.d., has been petitioning documents from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in relation to the controversial preservative. After more than 100 requests, the documents were eventually released — and clearly showed thimerosal can in fact cause autism and other neurodevelopment disorders. But this isn’t the only study that demonstrates the brain and health harming nature of the compound.

In the Absence of the Village, Mothers Struggle Most

Dear Mothers,

I’m writing you today because I can no longer contain the ache in my gut and fire in my heart over an injustice that you and I are bearing the brunt of.

Though this injustice is affecting everyone — men, women, and children alike — mothers not only feel its burden more than most, but we also feel disproportionately responsible for alleviating its pervasive and deeply damaging symptoms, which is adding hugely to the weight of the world we’re already wired to carry.

The injustice is this: It takes a village, but there are no villages.

A Stolen Life: The ‘Civilization’ of a Child

“Train up a child in the way he shall go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” ~ Salomon proverb

Knock on any door and inside will be found those responsible for the stolen lives of children. Instead of being protective of the child’s destiny, those caretakers are following the same protocol that was done to them as children. They are training up the child so that it will forever reflect the civility of the present culture. Used here, civility means psychological clones.

Parents who maintain their socially-given identity cannot be the true guardians of the child. The true destiny of the children is to be the possessors of their own pristine awareness and to respond to life’s challenges from that state. The guardian’s role is to guard by first protecting the child from those who feel it is their duty to mold (clone) the child into the image liken onto themselves; to provide the space where completeness can come to fruition.

Side effects include loss of appetite, insomnia, abdominal pain, emotional lability, vomiting, nervousness, nausea, fever and stunted growth. For those who have cardiac abnormalities, taking this class of pharmaceutical drug can cause sudden death. May cause psychotic or manic symptoms in patients with no prior history, or exacerbation of symptoms in patients with pre-existing psychosis. The drugs are addictive and have a high potential for abuse.

Yet despite these dire warnings, the FDA has moved forward with making these pharmaceuticals more attractive to children, so that “the new, quick-dissolving formulation will help harried mothers get their kids medicated faster before school.” [source]

The drugs in question? Pharmaceutical grade amphetamines used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
