An Activist’s Grace
Poem By Jack Adam Weber
Guest Writer for Wake Up World
Your belief is not necessary, and your faith will blind you.
Your college and postgraduate degrees can stay on the wall
And you can return your make-believe greens to your wallet.
Your runaway ears and hearing impaired tongue
Will only get in the way of what they assume to be so.
Your darting eyes and fast food fancying sinuses are of no help.
Just lend me your care for the afternoon, even an hour will do.
Let me walk you through the meadows in the mountains by your home,
Make circles of pebbles around the flowers in the cracks to your front door.
We’ll go out to the river that empties into the ocean and jump in!
Listen to the wind and the cardinal in the branches as the fluttering of our chests.
Allow me to introduce you to your friends all over again.
Didn’t you know your heart
Was meant to break a thousand times
To make everything beautiful again?
Fall in love with the world again with me, friend.
Even a minute will suffice to rekindle your embers
So everything glows a little more from your presence here.
The Nourish Practice
Jack Adam Weber’s “The Nourish Practice” is an easy, guided meditation-Qi Gong practice in radical gratitude and self-love. It is an Earth-based, body-centered practice — at once physiological and mythological — that is deeply relaxing and replenishing, especially for modern-day burn-out syndrome, and requires little physical effort.
The Nourish Practice “resets your nervous system” and fosters a rich inner life. You can purchase The Nourish Practice as a CD or Digital Download here.
