There have always been people sensitive to the subtle energies that permeate this reality. In the Western world however, the last few centuries have seen an abandonment of esoteric beliefs in favour of reason. Since that time, there has been a propensity to disparage anything that couldn’t be accurately documented and measured. Most people with the enigmatic faculty of energy sensitivity learned to keep their true natures hidden, especially during the witch-hunting times, when fear of the unknown fuelled a holocaust against practitioners of magic (which is just another way of saying energy workers). Even when conditions weren’t quite as dire, admitting to being tuned in to an aspect of reality to which most were oblivious could set a person up to be ostracised and ridiculed by those who fit comfortably into the mainstream.
The last few decades, however, have seen a considerable shift in this area – the growing number of us who can feel the energies know that they are escalating and are affecting everything they touch. What was once operating as a subtle current in the background is rapidly becoming an electrifying torrent of transformation.

Higher frequency energies are lighter, faster, and more fluid. The effect that bursts of these incoming energies are having on our world is that it is becoming less dense, resulting in a clearer, more flowing and more transparent reality. So much that was obscured from us in the past is gradually being revealed; through the cracks that appear in the old structures we glimpse something more real, more vital, and more eloquent.
If we hope to live from a place of pure alignment with the source of these energies we need to address the layers of distortion that have kept us separate. When the velocity of the incoming energies is high, things get stirred up; long hidden aspects are brought up to the surface to be healed and cleared on both individual and collective levels. We can see examples of this at the collective level right now in the US where the current election campaign is exposing a lot of toxic views that have long been festering in the shadows, and in the way whistleblowers are trickling out of the woodwork dumping furtive information into the public domain. Even those still in deep slumber are likely noticing that a lot of shady secrets are being brought out into the light– more and more evidence is surfacing regarding how corrupt the system actually is. We are beginning to comprehend to what extent we have strayed from the path of love while our deeper selves slept. This stage of exposure and revelation is not pretty or comfortable to witness, but it is necessary if healing is to ultimately take place.
As these energies pour in they are also stirring things up on an individual level. The barriers of separation between the surface and the deeper levels are dissolving, and we see the pool of people who sense the subtle energies that sweep through and around us steadily growing. As these energies seep into our being they open us to the deeper layers of awareness, triggering awakenings as they break down the fortification around our hearts. More people are finding that they are no longer satisfied with run of the mill reality. There is a longing for something more profound and meaningful.
While increased sensitivity to energy can make us feel more connected and tuned in to the deeper levels of being, this connection also challenges us to tread authentically with an open heart. Since we exist in a world that is transitioning out of a paradigm in which it was normal to hide our fragile and wounded parts, the call to step up and be open and real can feel like a daunting prospect. But the further we walk down the path of awakening, the less choice we find we have. To access our power and stand comfortably in our truth we need to bravely face all that we have avoided.
This emerging paradigm requires a new way of navigating. Those that have become aware of the incoming energies will likely notice that approaches that worked in the past now fall flat or actually backfire. Habits like pushing away uncomfortable feelings, distracting ourselves with low vibrational entertainment and food, manipulating and trying to control others, and concealing our flaws with fancy adornments no longer yield satisfying results. Sure we can still employ these old methods, but as many will have discovered, the more awake we are, the less effective and ultimately less rewarding these strategies will be. The more we close and resist, the more challenging the process will feel.
The new way to navigate is all about being open and connecting to our deeper selves and allowing all the long neglected, repressed and forgotten aspects of self to come into conscious awareness to be integrated into a united whole. The challenge with this process is that most of us have unconscious blocks in place that hinder the flow between, and integration of, these deeper parts. These blocks are made up of fears and distorted beliefs about ourselves and our world, and they need to be released.
The process of clearing our internal blocks is a natural, organic one that does not require much more than being open and allowing that which has been neglected to emerge from the shadows and return to awareness. However, while the principal is simple, for most of us it is not easy to sit with the associated uncomfortable feelings as they surface.
Whether at the individual or collective level, when the planet is engulfed in a particularly strong burst of transformational energies it can feel as though the universe is holding a magnifying glass over everything we don’t want to see. It is not a pleasant or comfortable experience. It is easy to get caught in the fear and anxiety that accompanies these buried aspects. In these bleak moments it can feel as though we are seeing things as they really are. If we allow ourselves to attach to this perspective the fear can seem overwhelming, as though we might be lost forever on a torrent of dread. The key is to trust that what we are experiencing is a step in a process that is ultimately working for our benefit. If we can remain open and unattached, and allow the energies to do their thing, reminding ourselves that ‘this too shall pass’, we will find that before long we have moved through the dark tunnel and are out the other side feeling lighter, brighter, more expansive and more whole. When we experience the benefits of having sat with our darkness it becomes easier with every wave of energy we consciously experience, to trust and remain centred in our hearts so that we avoid being throttled by the force of the current.
Some useful strategies to adopt during the rough patches:
- Get out in nature.
- Adopt daily grounding and gratitude practices.
- Be gentle, loving and non-judgemental with yourself and others.
- Focus on aspects of life that are soothing and uplifting.
- Drink lots of water and eat food that is healthful and nurturing.
