Recently someone asked me what we can do to move out of negative thinking and actions. First, determine if the negative thoughts are actually yours or not yours.

In my experience, very few if any of our negative thoughts are actually ours. The ones that are not ours may seem like ours because they are playing in our heads. The logic is that we are thinking them so why wouldn’t they be our thoughts? But thoughts can come that surely don’t feel like ours! When they do, we become dumbfounded, shake our head in disbelief, question our sanity and think – surely that isn’t me – I don’t feel that way!

So, when our own thoughts don’t resonate even for us, we have to wonder… Why are we having these thoughts? Where are they actually coming from?


Our Beautiful Minds

Thoughts can be powerful, beautiful and helpful at times, and dangerous at other times. It can feel like walking a tightrope; consciously navigating the convoluted, at times treacherous minefield of the thought world, and determining what is valid for us in the moment and what is not.

Our minds are powerful tools, and we use the mind plus inspiration/intuition for creating. That is a beautiful aspect of mind’s function when it works in our favor. Our minds are also critical and analytical, and can drive our attention to ‘beneficial’ fear, helping us to identify real, imminent danger. However, usually that kind of situation is accompanied with life experiences and gut-level feelings of authentic danger. At that point, our feelings, other instincts and the mind lead the way together.

Discerning real fear from false fear can be very tricky though — and it may seem as if I am talking out of both sides of my mouth here — as sometimes a fear thought that is not ours will create fear in our bodies where it did not exist before, and thus produce a false read. This is when we have to tune in and really ‘listen’ to our inner guidance. Tuning into our inner guidance and smartly assessing the present situation, in combination with the logical tools of the mind, will help us figure out if we are truly in a compromising position or thinking fearful or negative thoughts that have no purpose.

Where Are These Thoughts Coming From?

We can be bombarded with thousands of negative thoughts daily. When I say “negative” I mean thoughts that are not productive, not character building or soul supporting. They are thoughts of destruction, in one form or another, either toward ourselves or others.

Negative thoughts can be so powerful that we may feel compelled to make efforts to override them with positive framing or even grander efforts of completely detaching. If we don’t, the negative drain-train can overwhelm and capsize our lives. Sometimes these negative patterns/thoughts are so powerful they create overwhelming feelings of vulnerability, self hate, fear etc. and oftentimes we act out behaviors that we would have never normally considered.

So, if these negative thoughts don’t serve us, overwhelm us, and steer us toward negative experiences and feelings, why are we being bombarded with them? Why can’t we be bombarded with positive thoughts instead? I mean, what’s up with that?!? Why is there a consistent negative speak in our heads, instead of something uplifting, encouraging and loving?

Effortless Streams of Thought

Have you ever noticed that, when we are just sitting idly, not really thinking or even trying not to think, thoughts can keep coming anyway? One negative thought bomb can build on another one and before we know it, a good day has turned into an out-of-control downward-spiral kind of day. Streams of stuff that can be downright psychotic have free rein in our heads, and we can’t help but wonder where in the blistering hell this stuff is coming from. This happens not because an event has happened or because someone has called with bad news — it is because of the words playing out in our heads! We are actually listening to a stream of consciousness that is not our own!

Can it be any clearer than that? I think not.

So who decided that our thoughts would be mostly negative and destructive? What keeps them cycling through negative cycles with no end in sight?

Really think about this: Would you say that when we have negative thoughts, it keeps us occupied? Would you say that these negative thoughts take us to places that do not serve us? That they can build and create a reality in our head that is not Who We Really Are, then manifest an outer reality to match that?

Who would be invested in creating thought bombs to keep us from connecting with Who We Really Are and creating from that level?

Non-physical energy ‘vampires’ are entities in the unseen, non-physical realms around us. They have every intention of stealing and using your energy. That is mainly how they survive. They set up energy siphoning through negative emotions, trauma, addictions, injuries, extreme fear and ecstatic bliss episodes and events, through unspoken or spoken agreements in the physical and nonphysical realms, in other lifetimes or this one, and also through joint permission with others. And they are opportunists; If there is a way to suck the life out of you, they will figure it out, manufacture the scheme and install it.

The polarity/duality matrix in which we currently reside is designed to keep us from true connection with Who We Really Are. That is the name of the game here. To a degree we have created this game, however there are puppet-masters at work as well. We are unable to see them with our physical eyes, but they are there running the show because, until now, we have allowed it. We cooperate because we are asleep at the wheel, unconsciously participating in ‘victim consciousness’. Some of us are awake to it, but the majority are not. Many are not yet ready to give up victim consciousness, and for those who don’t wish to confront this reality and remain entangled in victimhood — a state that fulfills only the egoic mind — there are mechanisms in place to accommodate that preference, which help to maintain our experience of polarity that keeps us feeling like victims.

Negative Thoughts, and the Feelings They Create, Keep Us In the Game!

Negativity, fear, guilt and shame create the trauma and drama of the 3rd dimensional density field — the field that rolls out the red carpet inviting one into the theatre of terrifying and numbing adventures and catastrophes. We are unable to feel the contrast of dread and fear without there being negative thought forms and the like to jerk us into action.

Some spiritual teachings say that we are responsible for all of our thoughts — that we create them so we need to feel responsible for them, believe them and handle them. And yet, believing that we are somehow responsible for every screwball and demented cogitation that pops up in our heads can yield whopping amounts of guilt and shame. Doesn’t it follow that, if we have such self-created distortions in our head, we are also severely distorted in who we are? It seems so, when such a rigorous spiritual tenet says it is so.

This really, really is a mindf**k. Sometimes these thoughts are ours, such as our own wounded energy from this lifetime or another existence. The thoughts attached to the wounds are, most times, screams for help that point the way to the pain – the stored energy of an event. This is usually a good time to either take measures to self heal or reach out for help. But if we are to believe we create every single thought we have, and those type of thoughts are dynamically unsettling and don’t resonate with our highest self, then how can we maintain any kind of self-love or self-worth? How can we get out of the game believing that our behavior and our beingness constructed every quark of that madness?

To me, that seems part of the plan of keeping us down and out. We have to wonder what and who is really behind that spiritual mishmash? If you are reading this and feeling guilt and shame, I am gently requesting that you please stop now… Please don’t continue to punish yourself.

7 Origins of Thoughts That Are Not Ours

Although this list is not conclusive, these are the usual suspects:

1. The Matrix Of Duality Consciousness and Accompanying Curriculum

The matrix is so sophisticated and all-encompassing that whole books can be written about it. Both sides of duality consciousness, the dark and the light, participate in this intricate and interlaced grid. The matrix is the mother lode in thought and programming production. All of the following are just adjuncts embedded within it.

2. Collective Conscious/Unconscious

For as long as humans have been on the earth, a collective conscious/unconscious vibrational mass has been perpetually growing exponentially. In it are stored thoughts, ideas, programming, etc. from individuals and organizations since the beginning of time. Humanity is enveloped by and influenced in every second of every day by this mass. There are things we can do to detangle from that convoluted clump, but staying detangled is the challenge.

3. Religious/Media/Conventional Schooling Thought-forms/Programming

As soon as we are born we are exposed to myriad influences and absorb them like a sponge. Participating in religious or spiritual groups can cement in hard-core beliefs about what god is or god is not and the fear that comes along with that programming. Conventional schooling and the media play a significant role in how we form opinions and make choices. When we can begin to recognize that this conditioning is not our own, we can then begin to ignore it. Recognizing that conditioning while in complete saturation, though, is the kink in the link.

4. Distorted And Compound Energy Packets From Others

We also pick up wounded energies (energy packets) from others in this life and other lifetimes. Sometimes these hitchhikers are often accompanied by their own hitchhikers which then compounds the mayhem. The load can be significant in just this regard. And all the information in those energy packets are expressing 24/7.

5. Creepy Critters And Their Intrusive Manipulation

What critters are we talking about here? Entities from both sides of the polarity scale, known as legion. Since we don’t want to give our thoughts or power away to any outside entity, it may not be a good idea to trust those with fluffy wings any more than you trust those with pointy tails … just sayin’. Their mind manipulation tricks generate unhealthy and especially destructive suggestions. They can also, individually, whisper sweet nothings in our ears, playing to our egos in order to satisfy their ends, not ours.

6. False Guides Feeding Us Crappy Information

From my experience we are born with one Super Guide and other minor guides. The Super Guide may vacate its position for various reasons and other not-so friendly influences will then fill in that vacuum. The same goes with the minor guides. Most times we don’t even know there are interlopers because we seem to be getting the same quality of communication, but they dress it up that way – in pleasantries and feel-good vibes. Tricky, tricky!

7. Generic Thought-form Masses And Verbal Clouds

This is almost the same as collective consciousness but not quite, yet works in the same way. These can come from the folk who populate our immediate vicinity.

Is it any wonder that we are in the soup we are in?

7 Methods of Clearing Thoughts That Are Not Ours

1. Minimizing the Thought River Using Meditation

One exercise that may help:

Visualize yourself relaxing on a beautiful, peaceful bank by a fast flowing river. See the green lushness of the trees and grass and feel the welcoming arms of the earth. From this position, watch the river flow at a rapid rate and envision myriad fish going with the flow.

Now see your mind/brain as the peaceful riverbank, the fast flowing river as the thought train flowing through your mind, and the little fishes as intrusive, non beneficial thoughts. Practice detachment from the little fishes.

Make up your own correlations or find the gold that works for you. There are many meditation methods available.

2. Do Not Hook In

If unable to minimize the thought river and little fishes and detach, the next best thing is not to ‘hook in’ to the thoughts. In other words, do not feed them with emotion. When we hook in, we step into the poo-poo pile. All manner of dysfunction, physically and emotionally, psychically happens when we hook into thoughts and give them energy. If we can manage to be the witness instead of the participant, life flows smoother and we manifest less dis-ease in all our bodies of consciousness.

3. Take A Walk

Get into nature somehow and focus on the greenery, the beauty and fragrant smells. Stay as long as you can. Being in nature is always a good move no matter the circumstances.

4. Music – The Great Equalizer

Sound is a wonderful tool to break up invasive energy patterns. Dancing to the music lifts us even higher.

5. Get into Creation Mode

Do you write, paint, color? Do an activity that puts you squarely in a place of creating something out of nothing.

6. Go to Zero Point – Sacred Space of Nothingness

This is sort of like number 1. But not. It is dismissing the destructive thought-train by taking your mind, your focus, to Zero Point. I have tried all kinds of techniques over the years and this one works the best for me for now.

Envision a classic number line (It may be helpful to google ‘number line’ to get a better visualization.)

-10, -9, -8, -7, -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3, +4, +5, +6, +7, +8, +9, +10. 

Visualize looking at your body, from head to toe, at a distance, face front. Now take that number line and superimpose it onto your body. The Zero Point will run down the very middle of your body. That is the neutral zone – your Sacred Space of Nothingness. The numbers to the left and right of you are duality, and the place where the thoughts enter. Zero Point is the land of nothingness – no negative or positive charges, no duality.

When any negativity comes to mind, I immediately shift my focus to Zero Point, imagine my space of nothingness down the centerline of me. I am then able to detach and/or not invest any emotion at the very least.

Sometimes when I am in a space of really focusing, I will track an especially invasive thought train. If we are unusually sensitive we can feel which direction the thought(s) are coming from whether it is from the sides, back, top or bottom. This may seem strange but try it. Feel into the thought and then follow and track the energy. All of us are naturally energy trackers. Now see step 7.

7. Neutralize 

Either you track or ask your Authentic Self (or whatever you consider your Highest Source) to track the thought to its source, then flat-line and neutralize it.

Final Thought

There is so very much going on in, through and around us, and since most of us go through life unconscious and unaware, it is amazing we can walk around and function at all. Pat yourself on the back for just breathing; the struggle that brought you here is very real.

Now, it’s time to turn the game on its head! When you experience negative thoughts that are yours, hear their lesson and heal their source. When you find that these thoughts are not yours, please don’t continue to punish yourself — that just feeds the problem. Remember, with conscious awareness, you have the power to protect yourself from the intrusion of negative thoughts and take back full sovereignty over your energetic being.

    There is an amazing program called Immunics from Meher Baba’s work that has outlined in pretty good detail all the negatives and how to shield ourselves from them. It’s the best program I’ve ever found that actually nails on the head and clears and protects you from whatever you are picking up from the world around you.

    I have found that when our thoughts are negative they pick up more negative thought forms; entities, alien implants, etc.etc. I have also found the planet is a negative environment due to our history way back when we left the G-D Current. Thankfully the way out is the way back. When Lia talks about Zero Point that is the place of Wholeness, Oneness. When we manage to get ourselves back to the middle before thought, before form we are home free. Your thoughts automatically change and you very rarely pick up anything. I would also add to give up every thought; good, bad or indifferent. Tuning into the G-D mind and letting that take over is the key. The end game, if you will. All the stuff/thoughts/emotions/entities/spirit attachments, etc. etc. becomes mute. Once we are reclaimed by the G-D Current, the Ocean of Oneness, all the fear, etc that attracted those nasty guys no longer bother you. Once in a while you’ll pick up a demon; because they exist. Best thing to do if you really want to not be bothered by negativity, which the earth is more or less based on, is to find yourself an awakened mystic to study with. They will entrain you to their level of consciousness and teach you how to stay there. Much easier than dealing with all the heavy, draining thoughts on the planet. Waking up is what we came to do. Anything less is well….less.

    Good article Lia….it’s nice to know other people are getting the word out about what happens to us. One thing to add; we are affected by all the fields of energy that we live in and with. Most of them we are not aware of. Most of our trauma, in my experience, has nothing to do with this life time. This lifetime is but a reflection of what we’ve brought in from other times that we have not healed or that our ancestors would like healed. There are also multiple dimensions and beings we are part of that we are affected by and unaware of.

      I couldn’t agree more with you concerning the influences in this multi-dimensional setup and that most of our trauma is from other planes of existence. There is so very much going on that we are unable to fully grasp its entirety. That is what makes this maze so exciting and yummy! I enjoyed reading your viewpoints:)

    Hey Tim ~ To know that there are similiarities in techniques with someone we don’t know is comforting. Totally agree with handling the charge first and then the entities. On rare occasions there can be so many entities attached to a source, the entities actually create resistance to the deactivation and have to be removed first. Wascally wabbits…lol.

    The understanding of karma, for me, has drastically changed and also the notion that our outer reality reflects the inner. Both of those can introduce and produce guilt, shame and a whole host of self destructive thinking. ‘Spiritual’ teachings are losing their lustre and becoming suspect. I have several articles in progress conveying perspectives on ‘spiritual’ teachings.

    I am unable to prove to you that entities exist. For the longest time, I didn’t believe in them either until I had a very real personal experience. An ‘evil’ being and 2 earth bounds appeared to me in the physical. It was very frightening and also changed my paradigm on the spot.     As far as non-duality consciousness goes I can only convey my view. Living in complete alignment with Who I Really Am, Authentic Self, and creating from that alignment with no other influences interfering is my idea of non-duality. To me, it can be done in this environment. There is obviously much more to being in that alignment than I can possibly write, but I am heading for the destination in the best way I know how and using the tools at my disposal.

    The after-death thing is a literal crap shoot. Until we get there, we don’t know. I am even unsure of the Near Death Experiences (NDE) that are being reported. I don’t question the individuals who have had the experience. It is the Beings who intercept folks at death and maneuver them about that are suspect to me. There is all kinds of chicanery going on in this game and waking up to it is part of our evolution.

    I agree fear is our biggest enemy because its the opposite of love and anything out of love is on a lower frequency and not in alignment with Source. However I just finished writing a book explaining many beautiful Universal truths and my experience with Jesus AND entities that will do anything to rob us of our energy. Whether you believe it or not is not important for me but I do claim to be sane and sound and of good judgement and when I say these entities exist I mean it. I also understand when you have not experienced them they will not be your truth but it reminds me of the time when people thought the world was flat…did it stop Colombus? NO and this will not stop us who have experienced these entities either. I used to believe it was bull too because I had never experienced it but I know better.   • I have studied this stuff my whole life. This is a great article. This gist of this talk is great. Where many of these negative thoughts come from is hard to say. Who knows really. You read women who run with wolves……well there are and is something negative a tyrant or something in some people’s minds…perhaps those who have been traumatized and disassociated from parts of consciousness or blacked out by the old Freudian mind tricks. I have had words come to my mouth that weren’t mine…out of nowhere. Her ideas maybe more metaphorical but there is and can be some inner tyrant and recognizing it is very important. Observing it. This like the Harry Potter metaphor of dementers. This is where the concept comes from for some people really do face this stuff.

  • This article of your is pretty much spot-on and touches on the “social” aspect of many mental deseases like depression, alchoholism, drug addiction, sexual addiction, etc 🙂

    This has to be the most helpful article I have ever read. Most of the time I just skim through as I read, but this one I hung on every word. You have just answered a question I have had for years…where are these thoughts coming from when I know darn well they’re not coming from me. I’ve had many “experience”s, and I have “lived through” dealing with those lower levels so I know for a fact they exist. I don’t even want to read any other comments because I don’t have any interest in any comments that will try to make me feel its my imagination, when I know it isn’t. I just wanted to tell you thank you for this it was a big help for me!
