Roundup Weed Killer (Glyphosate) Threatens Coral Reefs, Persists In Seawater

The coral reefs are dying and the seas are increasingly depleted of sea life. Could Roundup weed killer be partially to blame?

A highly concerning study published in the journal Marine Pollution Bulletin indicates that the world’s most popular herbicide glyphosate (aka Roundup), used primarily in GM agriculture, is particularly resistant to biodegradation in coral reef collected sea water, and could therefore be a major contributor to the decline of marine coral reef systems such as the Great Barrier Reef.

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s biggest single structure made by living organisms, and is so massive it is visible from outer space.[i] Sadly, according to a study published by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the reef has lost more than half its coral cover since 1985,[ii] which is believed to be caused by a combination of factors, including climate change induced acidification of the ocean, outbreaks of predator species and extensive pollution. Despite the established role of agrichemicals in harming sea life, glyphosate has yet to be included in marine monitoring programs for its impacts on the reef — this despite being used at a rate of 30,000,000 lbs annually in Australia.

Modern Science Confirms Yoga’s Many Health Benefits

23rd June 2016

Modern science now confirms why humans have been practicing yoga since the beginning of recorded history: it is good both for the body and mind.

There is evidence in the archeological record that yoga has been practiced by humans for at least 5,000 years. Whereas this would constitute sufficient evidence for most folks to consider it a practice with real health benefits, as its millions of practitioners widely claim, skeptics say otherwise. They require any activity deemed to be of therapeutic value run the gauntlet of randomized, controlled clinical trials before it is fully accepted within the conventional medical system.

This tendency towards scientism in medicine, or what some call medical monotheism, runs diametrically opposed to the standards of lived-experience – so called “subjectivity” – or anecdotal experience (learning from the experience of others) which is what the majority of the world uses to determine if something has value, or is worth doing or not.

One of the oldest marketing tricks in the book is to dramatically overprice something in order to increase its perceived value. Ironically, the less intrinsic value the commodity holds, the more effective such a tactic can be. This could explain what’s going on with one of the highest priced and most useless chemotherapy drugs on the market today.

The chemotherapy agent is known as ipilimumab (trade name YERVOY®), and costs about $120,000 for a full course of treatment. While the manufacturer advertises YERVOY® as providing tangible hope to those with non-resectable or metastatic melanoma, it also boldly warns on its website that the effects of this drug can be quite deadly:

Traditional Food Puts Chemotherapy To Shame, New Study Reveals

By Sayer Ji

Contributing writer for Wake Up World

A traditional food plant that has been used for thousands of years to improve health and well-being, is finally being validated by science. The results? It may be far superior to a chemotherapy agent with deadly side effects and dubious efficacy.

Increasingly, an awareness of the power of commonly used traditional plants to prevent and even treat cancer is coming to the forefront. In fact, GreenMedInfo.com now houses one of the largest open access databases on the topic, with over 3,000 studies on the value of over 650 natural substances as chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic agents. You can take a look here.

Now, a powerful new study published in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry provides evidence that a traditional food consumed in the tropics as vegetables — Morinda citrifolia (Noni) leaves — may be the ideal complementary therapy or functional food in the prevention or management of lung cancer.

Why Sunlight Deficiency Is As Deadly As Smoking

By Sayer Ji

A groundbreaking new study published in the Journal of Internal Medicine has revealed something absolutely amazing about the role of the Sun in human health: a deficiency of sunlight could be as harmful to human health as smoking cigarettes.

The new study titled, “Avoidance of sun exposure as a risk factor for major causes of death: a competing risk analysis of the Melanoma in Southern Sweden cohort,” was conducted by Swedish researchers on a population of almost 30,000 women. They assessed the differences in sun exposure as a risk factor for all-cause mortality, within a prospective 20-year follow up of the Melanoma in Southern Sweden (MISS) cohort. The women were aged 25-64 years at the start of the study and recruited from 1990 to 1992. When their sun exposure habits were analyzed using modern survival statistics they discovered several things.

National Cancer Institute and JAMA Medical Journal Admit: “Oops… It Wasn’t Cancer After All”

By Sayer Ji

Contributing writer for Wake Up World

After decades of wrongful cancer diagnoses and treatments, and millions harmed, the National Cancer Institute and high gravitas journals like JAMA (the Journal of the American Medical Association) finally admit they were wrong all along.

Back in 2012, The National Cancer Institute convened an expert panel to evaluate the problem of cancer’s misclassification and subsequent overdiagnosis and overtreatment, determining that millions may have been wrongly diagnosed with “cancer” of the breast, prostate, thyroid, and lung, when in fact their conditions were likely harmless, and should have been termed “indolent or benign growths of epithelial origin.” No apology was issued. No major media coverage occurred. And more importantly, no radical change occurred in the conventional practice of cancer diagnosis, prevention, or treatment.

Group Drumming Better Than Prozac, Study Suggests

By Sayer Ji

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

A new study published in PLoS scientifically validates what so many drum circle participants have already experienced first hand: group drumming produces significant changes in well-being, including improvements in depression, anxiety and social resilience.

With the World Health Organization identifying depression as the #1 leading cause of disability, globally, and psychiatric medications causing severe side effects, including permanently disabling the body’s self-healing mechanism, drug-free alternatives are needed now more than ever.

Could group drumming provide just such a solution?

Nakedness Could Decode The Mystery of Human Origins

By Sayer Ji

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

The human obsession with nakedness constitutes a multi-billion dollar industry unto itself (pornography), but the fact that, among hundreds of different primates, we are the only one that is almost completely hairless, is rarely if ever considered. Indeed, understanding human nakedness may help to unlock the timeless enigma of how and where our species originated.

Scientific Consensus Statement Reveals Monsanto’s Roundup Herbicide a Major Health Threat

By Sayer Ji

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

A newly published scientific consensus statement on Roundup herbicide reveals exposure to this ubiquitous toxicant is increasing and valid research proving it safe is still nowhere to be found.

A powerful new review on the toxicity of glyphosate signals a growing consensus among non-industry-sponsored scientists that the relatively unmonitored and unregulated exposure to this ubiquitous toxicant can no longer be promoted as a justifiable risk. The review is open access and can be downloaded as a PDF and/or read in its entirety here.

The newly released consensus statement published in the journal Environmental Health and titled, “Concerns over use of glyphosate-based herbicides and risks associated with exposures: a consensus statement,” identified the broad spectrum herbicide glyphosate (common trade name “Roundup”) as major threat to human and environmental health.

Noni Leaf Extract Superior To Chemotherapy for Lung Cancer (Preclinical Study)

By Sayer Ji

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

Tragically, 1.4 million die from lung cancer each year, with 1.6 million newly diagnosed. Could the humble noni leaf extract offer a more effective cancer treatment than a drug that can cost over 100,000 dollars, and improves lung cancer survival rates by only a few months?

A promising new study published in the journal Food & Function titled, “Morinda citrifolia edible leaf extract enhanced immune response against lung cancer,” has found that an alcohol-based leaf extract of the noni tree (Morinda Citrifolia) was more effective than a commonly used chemotherapy drug in treating lung cancer in an animal model.

In the new study, a team of Malaysian researchers tested the relative effectiveness of the drug erlotinib (trade name Tarceva), a so-called epidemal growth factor receptor inhibitor (EGFR inhibitor), to a noni leaf extract, in lung tumor-induced albino house mice (BALB/c), and found that 21 days of treatment with a 300 mg kg-1 body weight of leaf extract was more effective suppressing lung tumour growth than a 50 mg kg-1 body weight erlotinib treatment.

Stevia Kills Lyme Disease Pathogen Better Than Antibiotics (Preclinical Study)

By Sayer Ji

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

Lyme disease is exceedingly difficult to treat, due to its well-known shape-shifting (pleomorphic) abilities, with conventional antibiotics often failing to produce a long-term cure. Could the commonly used natural plant Stevia provide a safer, and more effective means to combat this increasingly prevalent infection?

A promising new preclinical study has revealed that whole stevia leaf extract possesses exceptional antibiotic activity against the exceedingly difficult to treat pathogen Borrelia Burgdorferi known to cause Lyme disease. The study found, “Stevia whole leaf extract, as an individual agent, was effective against all known morphological forms of B. burgdorferi.”
