How to Use a Neti Pot to Relieve Sinus Problems
May 17th
Contributing Writers for Wake Up World
If you’re one of the millions of people who are suffering from sinus problems, you know all too well how dreadful headaches and nasal pressure can be. In our search for relief, many of us may turn to over the counter sinus medication, which only mask the symptoms.
Fortunately, there is a non-invasive, natural method that can be used instead. In the last five to ten years, many sinus sufferers have turned to an age old tradition to help relieve some of the discomfort. The Neti Pot has been reintroduced into our culture as a means to keep our nasal cavities clear through saline irrigation – a therapy that specifically uses salt and water to flush out nasal passages. Today, there are several ways in which one can irrigate their nasal cavities; however, using the Neti Pot seems to be the most practical method.
What is a Neti Pot?

Love or Fear – What Are You Afraid of?
May 17th
Contributing Writer for Wake Up World
When we narrow it down to all the emotions we can experience, the good news is there are only two choices, which makes our decision-making process simple. There’s love, which is our deepest desire, and then there’s that thing we call fear, which we find intolerable. In the long run, love is really everything, and fear is truly nothing.
It’s as important to know how to become unbound as it is bound, and that old cliché, ‘turn and face the music,’ seems appropriate here because we always choose one experience at the expense of the other.
Until we can pinpoint the underlying cause of all fear, we’re going to struggle with the unrest it causes in our psyche, and diminish the awareness of our own perfect peace and joy, which are our natural inheritance.
Fear and conflict are interchangeable, and certainly nothing we want in our lives. Most of us will find our own fear listed here, or a variation on the same theme. After reading through some examples, we’ll get into ways to release those fears so we can be happy and at peace. Let’s assume for the moment that fear is a decision, which can be overcome by belief, faith, and an inner knowing that everyone would like to achieve.

Twelve Healthy Superfoods You Eat for $1 or Less
May 17th
Every few months, it seems, there’s hype about the latest, hottest superfood—chia seeds and acai berries spring to mind. And while I’m always interested in trying new foods (especially ones that are healthy for me), as a registered dietitian and associate nutrition editor of Eating Well Magazine, I have to remember that LOTS of foods, many of which are stocked in nearly every grocery store in America, are “superfoods.”
The added bonus to eating more of these easy-to-find super-healthy foods? They won’t break the bank. In fact, I’ve rounded up 12 of my favorite healthy foods that each clock in at under a dollar per serving.
*These are average prices gathered from online grocery stores and a USDA 2011 survey of fruit and vegetable prices. Although the cost of these foods may differ from store to store, these are all healthy foods that are generally a good value relative to the nutrition they provide.

Cancer Fighting Foods – Four Anti-Cancer Foods
May 16th
Contributing Writer for Wake Up World
Could it be that cancer rates are so rampant because people are simply not eating the right foods. While there are many factors that play into the development of cancer, diet and smoking habits make up nearly 60 percent of cancer cases. The food news is that with dietary and lifestyle changes, cancer rates can drop dramatically. One of the easiest ways to protect yourself against cancer is to consume many cancer fighting foods – here are 4 of them you should never forget about.
Cancer Fighting Foods – Turmeric (Curcumin)
Among the most currently researched of cancer fighting foods, turmeric has repeatedly been shown to be an effective cancer-fighter and even block cancer growth. Previously found to reduce tumors by an astounding 81%, the naturally occurring compound found in turmeric, curcumin, exhibits numerous anticancer properties. Researchers at UCLA found that curcumin is the component harnessing the ability to actually block cancer growth. Not surprisingly, the cancer-fighting ability that turmeric make up only a single facet of the many benefits of turmeric.

Occupy Organic Veggie Gardens – Rebirth of the Victory Garden
May 16th
By JB Bardot - naturalnews.com
During World Wars I and II, private citizens were encouraged to plant Victory gardens in an effort to support the war effort and take the strain off the food industry, providing more food for citizens living at home. Little gardens popped up all over the country and they were called Victory gardens because people envisioned a victorious end to strife, sadness and hardship. Victory gardens in the U.S. produced a staggering 40% of the food supply. The Victory garden campaign resulted in 5 million gardens tended by over 20 million Americans, providing over $1.2 billion in food by the end of WWII.
Victory gardens were planted on every available plot of land — whether postage-stamp sized or covering several acres. The gardening campaign took the country by storm, with people being empowered by raising their own fresh, organic (because there wasn’t anything else back then) fruits and vegetables; coupled with the hope of victory over adversity and better times to come.

We’ve been receiving many questions of late concerning the subject of soul mates. It seems many are out to find their “ideal” partner in life.
So what’s it all about?
Do we meet on a dreamy white cloud and sail off into an eternal sunset whilst cherubims play their sweet soul music?
Or is there a bit more to it than that?
Both Trinity (my partner) and myself are soul mates who have joined in union in this incarnation to help one another. We felt compelled to write this joint article which you might like to read if the subject interests you…
The Twin Flame
The subject of soul mate would be totally incomplete with out first addressing the phenomenon of the “twin flame” because the former arises from the later. Please allow us to share…

Human Hormones Are Being Eclipsed By Synthetic Chemicals
May 15th
By Sayer Ji - Wake Up World
A new study published in the Journal of Applied Toxicology has raised some disturbing possibilities regarding the dangers of common hormone-mimicking preservatives found in thousands of consumer products on the market today. [1]
Titled “Parabens detection in different zones of the human breast: consideration of source and implications of findings,” researchers discussed the role that parabens — a class of estrogen-mimicking chemicals widely used in drugs, foods and cosmetics — may have in breast cancer and childhood disease.
The report focused on the findings of The Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Centre at the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust published last month (March, 2012), which discovered five paraben esters in human breast tissue samples collected from 40 mastectomies from women with primary breast cancer. [2] The report revealed three things:
1) The ester form of parabens found within the breast tissue samples indicated a dermal route of exposure, as would occur through skin care products and underarm deodorants.
2) The paraben residues were found at concentrations up to 1 million times higher than the estrogen (estradiol) levels naturally found in human breast tissue.
3) Propylparaben was found in the highest concentration in the underarm area (axilla), where underarm deodorants are most used and breast cancer prevalence is at its highest.

Antibiotics in the Animals We Eat
May 15th
By Bonnie M. Marshall and Stuart B. Levy
Low-dose antibiotics in animal feed fuel drug-resistance in human infectious diseases.
For as many decades as antibiotic resistance has thwarted the cure of bacterial infections, scientists have pondered the origins of resistance genes and how they became such a problem. Fingers were pointed squarely at the overprescription of antibiotics in human medicine—and rightly so, as early on, these drugs were liberally utilized for every imaginable malady without concern for the possible consequences. Not long after their discovery, however, these miracle drugs were applied not only to sick humans and animals, but to healthy ones as well.

Alongside good food, we often value relationships and communication as essential elements for the nourishment of our mental health and well-being. Undoubtedly, these are important facets in our continued drive for optimal wellness – after all, we are social beings.
On the other hand, they are not the only components we should apply in the realm of communication. We currently live in a time were communication is ever-increasing; tools such as the internet and social networking programs have revolutionized the way we interact. Fish, Not Fish Oil – How Our Body Uses Fats to Heal

The L.A. Times published an article by Rosie Mestel (4/9/12) questioning whether or not fish oil was good for us. This article was based on findings reported in the Archives of Internal Medicine, from a team of scientists from S. Korea. Here’s the article link.
The findings of the study show that, “taking omega-3 fatty acid supplements won’t protect against repeat heart attacks, strokes or other cardiovascular problems.” The lead researcher, Dr. Seung-Kwon Myung, chief of the carcinogenesis branch of the National Cancer Center, Republic of Korea, said that, “It is effective against cardiovascular disease to eat fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids, not supplements.”

Natural Sunscreen
May 14th

By Jennifer of Hybrid Rasta Mama
It is that time of year again. Great weather, lots of sun, long days spent outdoors. This is also the time of year where everyone worries about damage to their skin from exposure to the sun’s harmful rays. Sunscreen flies off the shelves at every store. Moms slather it on their children in thick layers. And this summer, like every summer, harmful chemicals will be absorbed into millions of bodies.
But don’t we need sunscreen and don’t the risks of using it outweigh the damage from unprotected skin exposed to the sun?

Probiotics Destroy Toxic Chemicals In Our Gut For Us
May 13th
By Sayer Ji - Wake Up World
It is an awesome fact of nature that we have trillions of organisms within our body – containing completely foreign DNA – some of which break down toxic chemicals that we humans have created to kill other things, but are now killing us, e.g. pesticides. Who are these strange helpers?
Bacteria!
Wait. Aren’t bacteria supposed to harm us? Aren’t they the enemy in the endless war against infection?
Well, when our immunity fails, some can grow out of bounds opportunistically. But they respond to the environment within which they are raised, not unlike most other creatures.
