The immeasurable Speed of Life travels faster than the speed of sound (spoken words). Most human relationships are expressed through words that have been given by others. In our fallen state when another speaks, the sounds of those words are transmitted to the instrument called memory. These words are traveling at the speed of sound when they reach the memory cells where they are immediately translated before a response is given. The traveling time between hearing the challenge, the interpretation and the response is at a speed that is not comprehensible. The completed cycle is not seen as a series of steps but rather as one uninterrupted phenomenon. This process is acceptable for utilitarian purposes but not for Living Relationship.
The interpretation of words is given by mind’s indoctrinated content, a content that has been given by others (family, friends, the educational system, government and social institutions). Those words are received at an unfathomable speed, thus giving the impression (illusion) that they are self-generated.
We have been subject to this mechanical process since millennia. Since childhood those past indoctrinated words have been accepted as to who we are. For the most part contemporary relationships are nothing more than imaginary beings (believing ourselves to being something we are not) expressing their master’s (Society’s) views. If this never-ending recycling process is left unchanged, then there is no Redemption (Awakening) for us.
In order for there to be a new direction (Revelation) there must be an Immeasurable Speed that precedes the sounds of words. In other words, when we are not present as a two awareness being (pristine awareness) then when there is a living challenge, that challenge is first received by and responded to by aberrant mind, thereby interrupting Life’s Natural Order. In the Orderly State there are no “steps” (mind as time) between the challenge and response.
When the Beloved and pristine awareness are Enjoined as One (Life’s Covenant) is when the Immeasurable Speed of Life Acts as First Responder to Life’s relationship challenges (“the Last (pristine awareness) Shall Be First, and the First (aberrant mind) Last.”)
That Speed, that Response, that Life, is my wish for you.
Man (humanity) is a machine (responding to living challenges robotically) – all his deeds, actions, words thoughts, feelings, convictions, opinions and habits are the results of external influences, external impressions. Out of himself a man cannot produce a single thought (thoughts are not self-generated), a single action. Everything he says, does, thinks and feels – all this happens.
To establish this fact for oneself, to understand it, to be convinced of its truth, means getting rid of a thousand illusions about man, about his being a creative and consciously organizing his own life and so on. There is nothing of this kind. Everything happens – popular movement, wars, revolutions, changes of government, all this happens. And it happens in exactly the same way everything happens in the life of individual man. Man does not love, hate, desire – all this happens.
But no one will ever believe you if you tell him he can do nothing. This is the most offensive and the most unpleasant thing you can tell people. It is particularly unpleasant and offensive because it is the truth, and nobody wants to hear the truth. ~ I Gurdjieff
Only When I Write – A “Biography”
The writer has been asked to provide his biography. The essential realization of his writing experience is that an independent autonomous entity whose thoughts are self-generated does not exist. A biography implies an entity that has permanence and continuity, our grand design provides neither. Thoughts are short-lived.
Our present functioning is a surplus of indoctrinated opinions given by others (family, friends, religious and educational systems as well as governmental and social institutions).
NOTHING, NOTHING is ours as being self-generated. Our grand design does not provide for independent free will choices. The writer’s “biography” is similar to that of others. For the most part the differences depend on the geographical and psychological (indoctrinated) environmental upbringing.
He accepts the title of writer when it is understood that it is applicable only at the moment of writing. How he came to its content is not known, except to say that it was “in the background” for many years.
These writings can be a refreshing new experience in how we respond to life’s daily challenges. It will no longer be mind that is first responder to life’s daily relationship challenges but rather, Intelligence (the mysterious expression of all that exists).
We are pristine awareness, the canvas upon which life expresses itself. So, be bold and “Be still and Know” (when mind is silent, Intelligence Acts as first responder to all relationship challenges).
That stillness, that knowing, is my wish for you.
