Tired of Our Bought-and-Paid-For Congress? This 18-Year-Old Created an App That Exposes Sellout Politicians

“In the last 5 years, the 200 most politically active companies in the U.S. spent $5.8 billion influencing our government with lobbying and campaign contributions. Those same companies got $4.4 trillion in taxpayer support — earning a return of 750 times their investment.” ~Greenhouse

In 2010 the Supreme Court handed down a ruling that has forever changed the political landscape of the United States. The decision opened the floodgates for corporations and unions to spend unlimited amounts of money on political activities. The result of the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission has been a deluge of cash lavished on super PACs, which are just one very small step away from the candidates they support. The ruling has also established legal protections for corporations, where political spending falls into the realm of “dark money” and never needs to be publicly disclosed. As discouraging as this can be for those who value truth and transparency, the entire situation is about to get a major overhaul by way of an app that exposes corrupt politicians.

Navigating The Information War with Emotional Intelligence

Navigating The Information War with Emotional Intelligence

Many of us do our best to speak out about the atrocities, injustices, oppressions, environmental issues, and corruption in our world. That is certainly needed, and shouldn’t be ignored. However, I’ve also seen more and more that many “truth seekers” and activists tend to focus only on these issues and get stuck on “fighting the system” on a 3D level. Many renegades who bring the darkness to light in our world – researchers and people in the alternative media realm – also fight each other over relatively minor points of disagreement, which quickly devolve and shift into personal attacks. Be it on social media, message boards, or YouTube comments, with people hiding behind their screens, they behave in ways they would probably never do when interacting in person. Such is the price of living in the Internet Age.

However, if we recognize that shadow aspect in ourselves, without rationalizing it away by finding fault in others – and thus, take accountability for the way we communicate at all times – we can show more humility and have more compassion for others and ourselves, and focus on the information itself so that we can get at the truth together.

The Dark Side Of The Internet

The Dark Side Of The Internet

By Bernhard Guenther

Carl Gustav Jung suggested that everything we feel about (or see in) another person is comprised of about 75% of our own “stuff” – our infamous shadow (i.e., the unconscious aspects of ourselves) – which we project, in either positive or negative ways, onto others.

In reality, such perceptions really have nothing to do with the other person. A more accurate indicator of an individual’s character and intentions are based on one-on-one interactions with them in real life, from a place of grounded awareness of self and the experiences which accompany that ‘work’.

As you can probably guess, shadow projection is even more amplified within the sheltered realms of the online world in comparison to “real” face-to-face interactions.

The Internet – One of The Biggest Drugs of Our Time

It can seem as if you are in a twilight zone of sorts…a reality that is SO real but in fact is very separate from life in the physical world of people, human interaction and connection, shops with real-life shop windows, gourmet food, exercise, nature, human behaviour, deep soul-level emotions birthday parties, beaches and daily routines that anchor you in your specific corner of the world.

It is called the internet.

As a sole (and soul) entrepreneur who works almost exclusively online with my clients and students all over the world, it seems an important part of my own process to document my personal experiences and observations of my own relationship to the internet. In my work as a professional intuitive I speak and refer to ‘spiritual contracts’ a lot with my clients in helping them to gain a better understand of their key relationships. I have been realising that I’ve been going through a re-negotiation of the terms of my own contract with the collective consciousness and energy that is the internet and, as with any other contract, once it has been drawn up and signed I can then refer back to it in the future as need be!

Identity and The Online Personality

Identity and The Online Personality

By Frank M. Wanderer Ph.D

In our days the Y and Z generations have debuted on the revolving stage of life. Y generation consists of the people born between 1976 and 1995. In slang, they are also referred to as the ”Youtube generation.” Z generation started in 1996 with Facebook and its members are still being born today, too. They are often called ”turn of the millennium generation”, and the most recent term is ”digital natives”.

They have grown up with the new technologies (computer, mobile phone, Internet), and they are hardly able to imagine their life without these. The services offered by the new technologies are part of their daily life, they are conveniently at home in the online world of the Internet. Belonging to virtual communities is often more important for them than building personal connections.

NSA’s Surveillance State: Hacking Keyboards, USB Drives, Firmware, Monitors and More

What’s been said about the National Security Agency (NSA) since the Edward Snowden leaks is certainly frightening to privacy and civil libertarian advocates. Whether these leaks are a positive or negative move by whistleblower is debatable, but the fact remains that what Snowden did has changed the landscape of government discussion.

NSA’s Surveillance State Revealed

Digging right in…. In December 2013, computer hackers and gurus converged on Brazil for the 2013 Chaos Communication Conference (CCC), the thirtieth year in a row the event has taken place. Of course though, this year, government spying revelations have hit tech junkies and privacy backers like a ton of bricks. Featured at the CCC event were speakers well known to the current tech community such as Jacob Applebaum and Julian Assange.

UK Ban on Esoteric Websites Will Limit Free Thinking and Impact Small Business

UK Ban on Esoteric Websites Will Limit Free Thinking and Impact Small Business

It’s been called a ‘War on Consciousness’. UK Prime Minister David Cameron has caused outrage by grouping esoteric websites and web forums together with violent material, pornography and pro-suicide sites in his paternalistic plan is to block access to online ‘threats’ from the New Year onwards.

Mr. Cameron’s proposed block on websites that contain information or images that could be ‘harmful to children’ will mean that web users will have to ‘opt-in’ to viewing websites across a range of topics. But while users can ‘opt in’, there are fears that choosing to unblock certain sites will raise a red flag to the authorities, identifying individuals as potential trouble makers. There are also questions about how search engines will handle and display blocked sites, and whether traffic to such sites (like this one!) will therefore be affected.

Here’s a list of topics the government intends to block:

  • violent material
  • pornography
  • eating disorder websites
  • suicide related websites
  • tools to unblock websites
  • web forums
  • alcohol
  • smoking
  • esoteric material

Why Mr. Cameron has chosen to group ‘esoteric material’ with violence, pornography and suicide is quite beyond me. I don’t even know why smoking and alcohol are on the list. In fact, I don’t understand why information about any legal activity would be included… unless Mr. Cameron has another motive.

“Esoteric” Content Censorship…. Coming Soon to a Website Near You!!

Introduction:

Can you imagine a world where access to esoteric and spiritual information was blocked by the government? What if you stopped by an internet café only to find that your favourite website was banned by a public web filter? … Or your friend’s natural health website was blocked because it mentioned ‘spiritual healing’ techniques?

A disturbing movement to censor legal spiritual and esoteric information is growing – right now in the UK, and other countries are poised to jump on the bandwagon – and will continue unchecked unless people become aware of the problem and protest it.

Esoteric, anyone?

The word “esoteric” is defined by OxfordDictionaries.com as:

adjective: intended for or likely to be understood by only a small number of people with a specialized knowledge or interest.

Now carefully consider the implications of this definition, just as the UK government considered them in preparation for their proposal to block UK readers from accessing “esoteric” material online.

The UK’s Proposed Ban on Esoteric Knowledge: Why Institutions Seek to Limit Access to Information

The UK’s Proposed Ban on Esoteric Knowledge: Why Institutions Seek to Limit Access to Information

I want to say I completely understand the UK government’s proposition to ban websites that contain esoteric knowledge. Esoteric knowledge would enable people to rise up from the ghastly and exhausting fear that leads them to tolerate the institutional ‘war economy’ and all its literal and figurative nuclear fallout. The only way that lending more rights to institutions will be tolerated by the masses is if they limit individual access to information.

When minds start to wander, they start to wonder. And if they wonder with esoteric knowledge or developed consciousness, people would be less likely to resign themselves to the physical world and the controlling institutions thereof. When people become aware of esoteric knowledge and esoteric viewpoints, institutional control becomes secondary. When people start to think for themselves they don’t resign themselves to institutional format and command, and might start to recognize When people start to think for themselves they can understanding the moral and legal divergence, and not simply follow and enforce “the rules” like institutional tools.

Australian Government Media Caught In Censorship of Historical Archaeological Findings

Australian Government Media Caught In Censorship of Historical Archaeological Findings

Background

Throughout 2012 Ryan and I (the founders of Wake Up World) worked closely with a group of Australian research colleagues to understand – and to help make public – the significance of a series of archaeological findings in bushlands of the Kariong/Gosford area on the Central Coast of NSW Australia. An area, I should add, that is under threat of being destroyed by large-scale commercial development.

Findings in and around this area include 35 registered Aboriginal sites, countless unregistered sites, 8-foot stone carvings, ancient jewellery, ochre caves, early-Egyptian hieroglyphs, and remarkably, a recently-discovered series of underground tunnels and chambers which have yet to be explored in their entirety.

The validity of these findings has been confirmed by tribal custodians and Elders, while the “hoax” theories relating to the site have been thoroughly refuted – in the first instance by David Fitzgerald, an indigenous man who previously worked as a sites officer for the National Parks & Wildlife Service, and most recently, by thorough translation of the ancient script completed by Ancient Hieroglyphics experts from the Khemit School of Ancient Mysticism in Egypt.

Pay for Comments – Confessions of a Paid Disinformation Internet Shill

Pay for Comments – Confessions of a Paid Disinformation Internet Shill

3rd October 2012

By ExShill –Reposted from ATS Forums

Note from WuW:

Government trolls. Disinformation shills. Call them what you want, they are real.

Every day at WuW, we see “comments” submitted on our articles that are blatantly composed by trolls. Lengthy, well written comments designed to irrationally steer the conversation in a pro-government, pro-status quo direction. They pose as readers and first-time commenters, but post essay length commentary quoting “expert” government research on a range of topics, question those who dare question the government line, and urge us to believe in the path chosen for us by our ‘trusted’ leaders.

If we believe them, everything is and has always been ok. No further questions need to be asked. Those who do are paranoid. Break out the tin-foil hats.

Site moderation is something we take very seriously at WuW. We offer a platform for different voices and opinions to be expressed, and it is therefore quite rare that we suppress a reader’s comment from being posted on our site or our Facebook community page. But we’re not stupid, and we won’t let our site be undermined. We know government trolls and paid disinformation shills are real, and we can pick their work a mile away. It has a certain… quality. And they consistently prove us right! Very often, the comments we identify as “troll speak” (and therefore do not post) are re-submitted, again and again, word for word, from a variety of reader aliases and email addresses.

Like I said… we’re not stupid. And I have no doubt this article will be similarly targeted.

This is the story of a man who, due to economically hard times, accepted a job as an internet disinformation shill. After only 6 months, he resigned as he was no longer was able to look himself in the mirror.

Confessions of a Paid Disinformation Shill

…..I am writing here to come out of the closet as a paid shill. For a little over six months, I was paid to spread disinformation and argue political points on the Internet. ATS was NOT one that I was assigned to post on, although other people in the same organization were paid to be here, and I assume they still walk among you. But more on this later.

Ten Failed Attempts by the US Government to Control the Internet

Ten Failed Attempts by the US Government to Control the Internet

12th June 2012

Christine Kane – activistpost.com

The topic that was dangling at the forefront of most American’s minds at the end of 2011, and even seeping into the beginning of 2012, was the fate of the Internet. The Stop Online Piracy Act, discussed further below, whipped citizens into a frenzy and led to the largest Internet-based protest to date. In light of a slightly-reworked, renamed SOPA’s emergence, it is worth reviewing ten failed attempts by the American government to control the Internet.

1. Communications Decency Act (1996)

The portions of the Communications Decency Act that were the most controversial were the ones that attempted to regulate internet pornography; a judiciary panel stated that the bill would infringe upon First Amendment rights and the bill was squashed.
