It is a curious mindset – when you find yourself fixated on an outcome that you feel, once you have achieved it, will solve all of the unhappiness, lack and struggle you desperately want liberation from in your life right now.
What is your symbol of freedom? Do you imagine yourself starting your own business? Writing a book? Creating an offering? A product? Starting a charity? Or championing a cause?
Do you put yourself under enormous pressure for it to become nothing less than a success? Do you hinge your future prospects for peace of mind, well-being, abundance or purpose on being able to create it?

It is so important to realise that when you attach your emotional and spiritual well-being to some external thing… to a dream, a cause, an aspiration, to something that doesn’t yet exist… you take yourself out of life’s creative flow in the present moment of NOW. The “one day, I will finally be able to…” kind of thinking takes you to an abstract place in the future, often leaving you feeling disempowered and unfulfilled in the present.
Let me be clear: Having a vision for yourself and big, exciting dreams that bring you alive and spur you on through your life is important. But it is very different to having one single dream or focus upon which your entire enjoyment of a happy, meaningful and purposeful life is built.
When you find yourself hinging your happiness on your (and others’) ability to achieve that one particular goal, very often that goal unwittingly serves as a mental/emotional/energetic crutch, a means of self-identification, a dynamic that keeps you out of alignment and communication with your true inner knowing and needs.
More often than not, this types of crutch underlie fears and a need for greater self-understanding, and these two things join forces to create an energetic circuit that can make you feel like you are going around and around in your life, not really making the movement forward that you want to — because you are fearful and inadvertently hold yourself back from initiating change.
… and you can’t understand why you can’t seem to create the shift in your life that you know you need in order that your situation can change.
… but you don’t really want things to shift because you are comfortable with what you know and as much as you are unhappy with your situation, it makes you feel like you are in control.
… it is way too scary to contemplate being out of control, even if you are unwittingly in control of yourself being ‘stuck’.
It is a vicious cycle that lacks inspiration and insight because it brings to the fore a version of you that is divorced from your inner wisdom – out of communication with a chunk of your soul…
… because of an unconscious fear of handing over the reins of your life to universal order.
… for then you know both your mind and ego will be well and truly out of control.
How does a divorce from your wise and essential-self occur?
A split from your wise and essential self occurs when you get stuck in your ego, your mind, your head… when you get stuck in your linear thinking that tells you 1 + 1 = 2. The thing is, the alchemical realms are not linear. The formulas for creation are multi-dimensional and exist on different planes of existence, to different extents, all merging and melting into each other in a world where there is no time or space.
When you reject life-change based on your need to control the predictability of your situation and circumstances, you sever your connection to the very alchemical realms that naturally bring you into closer alignment with your sacred purpose and truth. So you wind up feeling frustrated not only because you are essentially resisting life’s natural intelligence and flow but because you are consistently giving yourself the message that you do not trust your own wisdom and ability to be at peace and aligned within yourself as an individualised aspect of that flow.
What else is there that could possibly make you feel worse than on a fundamental level, not being a believer in yourself?
Very often when you recognise that you have been standing in your own way you ask; “Well how do I change? What do I need to do?”
Understand that you are really after a sound understanding of ‘who you are’ and your role as an intuitive, co-creative aspect of the universe. That very likely you are unconsciously wanting to up-level your understanding of yourself so you can own the idea that you do in fact have a unique perspective and message to share. And even if you don’t yet think of it as such, you need to open to the possibility that you are having a spiritual lesson in self-healing, self-forgiveness and self-love.
When you think of your one dream, your ‘get out of jail’ card in these terms, hopefully you will see that the only way to liberate yourself and live an entire lifetime full of exciting creations and dreams is to begin trusting yourself, now.
Your true self has a journey in store that will ultimately enable you to shine and increasingly come into your own. Your intuition or inner knowing will lead you to places, relationships and experiences that honour and reflect back to you your unique magnificence. In order for you to have that journey, trust that universal order will help you create the life that your soul longs for, but know that it can only work its way into your life to the extent that you tune into and allow.
Most of all, release ‘the dream’ that is simply a container for your fear and which keeps you from connecting with the flame of self-realisation flickering in your depths in the present moment.
