Full Moon in Aries – Embracing the Darkness, Living the Light

We have recently been given the energetic pushes, and in many cases the triggers, we need to finally begin letting go of our fears and inhibitions, elicit genuine change, and experience what it truly means to live authentically and fearlessly. These pushes have brought into focus the underlying emotional blocks, wounds and fears that have stood between us and our visions, passions and purpose, and invited us to go beyond the limitations of the mind, to liberate our hearts, and to discover the place of inner security that can only come from living in the flow — in total alignment with our own truest self.

However, such a realignment brings many challenges. As we progress through the current Shift in human consciousness, we are each living out a narrative or story that is forcing us to confront and (ultimately) embrace our inner Shadow so that it to can be processed, healed and integrated. And it is in this context that today’s Full Moon invites a necessary shift in perspective — at its essence, we are being asked to directly confront our inner shadow, examine the ways we remain unaligned to our most heart-centered expression, liberate ourselves of inner oppressions, and respond to life with a new integrative perspective.

Let’s look at the evolutionary potential of today’s Full Moon in Aries.

Pluto in Capricorn square the Sun and Mercury in Libra and the Moon in Aries

A shift in perspective.

Within the context of this planetary alignment there is great potential for deep emotional and psychological transformation. Pluto’s transit in Capricorn square the moon in Aries highlights a powerful shift in our sense of the ego-self (represented by the Moon). The square aspects between Capricorn and Aries reflect a process of breaking free from old habits, and thus, being free to explore new directions.

Pluto in Capricorn is also making a square alignment to the Sun and Mercury in Libra, which reflects how we establish and define our relationships to people, objects and ourselves. Adding to this dynamic the Sun and Mercury squaring Pluto and (at the time of the Full Moon) naturally opposing the Moon, we have an interesting dynamic going on here. On one hand we have a strong desire for freedom, and on the other hand we have an awareness of the old relationship patterns that are holding us back from feeling that freedom. This can create a sense of disempowerment within us, which Pluto is now bringing to our attention.

The inevitable evolutionary step here is to put aside the will of the ego-self and allow a shift in perspective to occur.

Jupiter in Libra oppose Uranus in Aries

Liberation from inner oppression.

At this time, the energy created by the ongoing opposition of Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Aries (both outer planets) is being fuelled by the square alignments of Pluto, the Moon, Mercury, and the Sun. These alignments are driving a shift in perception, the baseline for which has been developing for quite some time.

Uranus and Jupiter’s opposition has been pressuring us to awaken and enliven parts of our selves that we have suppressed while simultaneously inviting us to respond to our lives in new ways. Collectively and individually we have been witnessing around us and experiencing with in us these two extreme polarities: the drive and desire for liberation, and total awareness of the old dynamics that seem to hold us in suspension.

With the Full Moon in Aries now peaking, the time to release and experience solutions and gain liberation is upon us.

Mars and Venus conjunct in Virgo trine Pluto direct in Capricorn

Aligning our inner and outer realities.

Allowing us to fully feel and experience our current shift in perspective (as opposed to it being a more subtle or unconscious shift) is the formation of Mars and Venus in Virgo flowing in perfect synchronicity with Pluto in Capricorn (which has recently returned from a retrograde to a direct motion.) In synchronicity, these alignments invite us to see the beauty in this cosmic dance we are all here to experience, and show us that it is time to foster a new grounded relationship with our selves. Energetically, these alignments present a crossroads: We can distract ourselves from our inner pain and emotional wounds, or we can embrace our shadow and accept the lessons they hold for us and begin to form a new and unshakeable relationship with our individual purpose and destiny.

With the alignments of Mars, Venus and Pluto combined and the energy of the Full Moon in Aries bringing to our attention these opportunities for deep inner growth and self-mastery, we have the perfect conditions from which to make new choices out of our old situations, and to directly confront our inner struggles, finally finding liberation from the oppression and self-imposed limitation of our past conditioning. Our choice now must be to embrace ourselves with total acceptance of our truth and the inner knowing that we can only truly know ourselves when we are holistically balanced — when we integrate our inner and outer worlds, embracing our darkness and living our light.

Full Moon Message – Healing is Hidden in the Shadows

Embracing the shadow, inviting the pain and allowing the darkness to teach us.

As we journey through life we are faced with a diversity of experiences through which we are gifted the opportunity to become more whole within ourselves. We are constantly presented with situations that hold the very lessons we need in order to find the love and healing we are seeking. Thus, there is no need to search for harmony, since life, even in its most mundane form, brings us everything we are seeking in order to become whole.

These pieces of ourselves often come disguised as pain, as heartbreak and as fear. Often they look like love and desire only to later turn into pain and despair. If we are not aware of ourselves it is easy to identify the situation (or the person reflecting it back to us) as the source of our suffering. We even learn to identify the way in which these circumstances come into our lives and find strategies to avoid, diffuse and deflect them. But we often forget: the thing that will save us from pain and fear is never outside of ourselves. It lies within each of us — within you.

It has always been there, hidden in the shadows.

Some life lessons are inescapable. Rather than resulting from choice, they come to us in ways that force us into an experience — yet although we may not choose our experiences, we have the choice to embrace or deflect their lessons. Ultimately, the most profound lessons lie not in the situation itself but in the way we choose to relate to it. We experience our world through our choices, and we are always choosing how we relate to everything — every thought, every feeling, every situation and every person. When we choose to embrace the totality of life with all the diversity of experiences it may bring — desirable and undesirable, light and dark — we are liberated from our fear of the darkness; from the limitations we have created to protect ourselves, and from the burden of needing to assess and defend ourselves against every situation, and from the limitations needed to maintain such defensive boundaries.

By surrendering to the natural flow of life, we learn that all experiences lead to love… even the darkest most deeply painful ones. In essence, life is breaking us open to something more beautiful and boundless than our minds can perceive.

“It is not that the light element alone does the healing; the place where light and dark begin to touch is where miracles arise.”  — Robert A. Johnson

Our challenge right now is integration. One step at a time, one experience at a time, we are finding pieces of ourselves by facing the very things we instinctively want to run from. We are being invited to let down our arms, to stop pushing experiences away from us, and to allow the shadows into our lives so they may finally be healed. By embracing our inner shadow, inviting the pain and allowing the darkness to teach us, our pain becomes an invitation to heal, our fear an invitation to live, and every day an invitation to feel the deepest sense of love and wholeness available within ourselves.

Blessings,
