New Moon in Scorpio – The Great Shift Moves Into High-Gear

The energy of the Full Moon in Taurus (November 4) posed a clear invitation: to begin embracing the stillness of the present moment and embodying the wholeness and balance that exists inherently within us — not a place of judgment, effort, or inner “work”, but rather, one of pure consciousness. In that moment of now, we were asked not to let go of what was (the past) and what could have been (potential), nor to face the unknown (future), but simply to connect with our ourselves and our truth in the here and now, as we are, and to interact with the world around us from that place of instinct and pure being.

This is the place from which our truth becomes reality.

Now, as the supportive energy of today’s New Moon in Scorpio takes hold, we are experiencing the positive effects of allowing consciousness to guide us — and the Great Shift is moving into high gear!

Let’s look at the energy patterns of the New Moon and the energies that will shape our evolution during this coming lunar cycle.

Mars in Libra oppose Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn

The Great Shift!

Mars, Uranus and Pluto are currently forming an alignment that is reflecting to us huge inner awakenings, and subsequently, leading us to making big changes in our lives. These planets are taking up space in the astrological signs of Libra, Aries and Capricorn, all cardinal signs, which are characterised by the energy of initiation and new development. These symbols and alignments are helping us clearly see and integrate the shift in our values within the context of our current evolutionary path.

Jupiter, now in Scorpio, recently spent a year in Libra, the sign that precedes Scorpio. As part of this natural progression, the lessons that Jupiter in Libra brought us are now being seen, and felt. The Jupiter archetype essentially functions as a point of orientation; it influences our belief system and allows us to make sense of this phenomena called “reality”. The Libra archetype reflects balance, and being a Cardinal sign, is grounded in the energy of change and initiation. Now, as these current alignments take formation, our renewed belief system becomes anchored into our reality, their integration is coming to fruition. We are seeking to act upon our desire — our nature — to be free, to follow our purpose and to be aligned with what reflects total emotional authenticity for us.

Each of us are being transformed at the moment due to this energy. Some are also being effected by others changing and so, indirectly, their lives are changing through the shifting of relationships, dynamics and associations. Either way, we are moving into the new phase of being, and our best response to this new energy is to be open to what is flowing through and around us, and to consciously accept this flow of renewal and change, rather than resisting it.

Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius square Neptune and Chiron in Pisces

The truth of the past no longer serves the purpose of our future.

As we can see, the cardinal signs are effecting change — but what precisely is moving for us?

What we are currently experiencing is a revolution in our way of thinking, feeling and ultimately, relating to ourselves and others. Mercury, reflecting linear cognition and communication, and Saturn, reflecting the boundary between the conscious and the unconscious, are currently in Sagittarius, which symbolizes our journey of inner truth. Mercury is currently in a closing cycle to Saturn, which means we are seeing a culmination around how we intellectually define our beliefs — or to be more specific, the values and needs we need to be real with our purpose and sense of meaning in our lives. As a result, we are opening up to receive the experiences of change, as we realign our lives according to our renewed sense of values and beliefs.

As Mercury and Saturn complete their cycle, we will be enriched with a moment of insight that will set a clear path for our new purpose and meaning to be discovered. This cycle will be very new, so it is important to us that we remain open-minded to how our lives play out. Rather than judging or planning, observing and responding to life moving through us will bring us the wholeness we seek. The moment we integrate this approach, a new set of feelings and changes will occur, in of their own. We are healing ourselves individually, and thereby, collectively, and best way we can honour life itself is by seeing the changes within us being in alignment with our actual life purpose (as opposed to the desires or constraints of expectation, society or the ego etc.)

Jupiter conjunct Venus, the Sun and the Moon, all in Scorpio

Embodying our authentic truth.

This month’s New Moon is not just simply a Sun/Moon formation, it is heavily influenced by the powerful conjunction between the Moon, the Sun, Jupiter and Venus, which brings in an immense amount of positive, supporting energy. These series of symbols are making very strong trine formations (positive flowing energies) to Neptune and Chiron, and these energies are empowering us to feel deeply into what really matters to us. We are also receiving some powerful support to heal our collective psyche.

Even though these energies may feel soft and gentle in their expression, they are truly helping us feel into ourselves on the deepest level and allowing us to know what is truly authentic for us, and what is now. So, from now until December, we will be reviewing and clearing out what does not reflect the purest version of ourselves, and making necessary changes to realign our lives.

During this time it may be very easy to lose touch with time, and we may get caught up in illusions that obscure our vision and mask what we believe as truth. The key here is to remember the ultimate purpose of our life on earth is to connect with our purpose and to allow our psychical bodies to experience it with our senses, and our bodies. In doing so, we are moved by what is real for us instead of being conditioned by man-made beliefs — even those that may be our own creation. We are here to heal ourselves and to feel balance and wholeness. So ask yourself: What does this look and feel like to you?

The New Moon Message — Flipping the Pyramid

We carry many many layers of beliefs which define the way we see the world and ourselves, what we value and seek to fulfill us, how we nurture ourselves, others and how we relate. As we begin to question our motives and choices we can become aware of these layers and expand our sphere beyond the previously held boundaries of awareness. These moments of expansion are like new beginnings as they open up a world of new possibilities to explore, bringing a feeling of freedom, excitement and newness to approach things with “new eyes”. Many times when we are feeling stuck and blocked, it can be these very beliefs which are hindering us from seeing the alternatives and choosing a different approach, or taking a new route altogether.

Many of the beliefs and values we are conditioned to embrace are rooted in a core philosophy of the separation between the feminine and masculine principles. The masculine principle is rooted in competitive, expansive, linear, goal-oriented thinking, while in contrast, the feminine is of a sustaining, nurturing and cyclical nature. In the hierarchical structures of our current world, the masculine values have been granted a greater worth than the feminine, and so, we have used the feminine to sustain the masculine rather than the masculine to sustain the feminine. One way we can see this is the way we define “work” as something to be competitive and expansive rather than nourishing and nurturing. The best paid services are those rooted in masculine ideals. The rat race is built on this philosophy.

But what if we were to flip the pyramid and redefine “work” to be something that is nourishing and nurturing, and to use the masculine principles of creative expansion to sustain that? What if we were to redefine our life purpose to be rooted in beliefs and values which are nurturing, supportive and sustaining in nature?

Do what you love to do, what brings joy to your heart and value that above all else! Do that not only for yourself but also for others, expand and express your passion. Find a way to support that which you would do for no return and let that be your service to the world then ask those who receive from your sharing to support you in continuing to share.

“We cannot live happily by spiritual sustenance alone nor by material prosperity alone. It is only by having ambition and by crowning that ambition with the idea of service to others, either by helping them individually or by working for some great cause, that you will find a spiritual reason for making money for yourself and others.

“To help others to help themselves also spiritualizes ambition. An Almighty Power has linked us all together. Whenever you help others you are helping yourself.”

~ Paramahansa Yogananda

As we expand our values beyond the boundaries of our conditioned, inherited and self-imposed beliefs, it is often the subtle and simple things that give us the most treasured experiences. Many times though, we hold the inherent belief that we must suffer for the things we want — like the belief that we must work hard for what we want.

During today’s New Moon, and throughout the new lunar cycle it heralds, we invite you to reflect on your definition of “work”. Often it is seen as something that we do to provide for the things we love to do — but what if we were to redefine “work” to mean the process of embodying the things that nourish us, and by extension, nourish others?

What nourishes you and brings you enthusiasm and joy? How might you truly live them and bring them into being in the present moment? Are you ready to live your most authentic truth?

With love,
Simon & Jennifer
