The Essence of Huachuma Cactus

Anyone who has experienced a well-made Huachuma brew would testify that the essence of their experience is Love. And it truly is. Pure, unconditional, divine love. This extraordinary but real experience is deeply healing on every level. It is simply self-evident, experiential truth. This medicine is a map for inner treasure, that very treasure that the mystics and the sages of antiquity knew about and some of whom possessed.

Living in the modern world is different, as illustrated in the film The Matrix. The modern Matrix appears wide open and promises total freedom. Yet it is a very constricted space for the soul, where spiritually mature people feel suffocated and claustrophobic. In modern society there is simply no time or space for the Spirit. I know this for a fact. I am from there. And the fast-paced world is accelerating, driving its habitants deeper into darkness and madness. For some, it is already a reality. Suppose you are already angry, frustrated and tired of waking up early on a cold, rainy day to drive to a job that you hate, which is supervised by someone you don’t like. It is already depressing as it is. Then, you get stuck in traffic, while worrying that you will be late to the job that you hate doing and supervised by someone you don’t like. By the time you get to your workplace, you have already spent half of your daily energy, which melts under the pressure of negative emotions and fears, like snow under the sun. And your day just got started. To deal with mind fog and tiredness you drink many cups of coffee that stimulate you during the day by taxing your body at the end of it. Others use so-called “smart drugs,” which in reality are not smart at all. It is just a marketing label used to sell them to you.

By the time you go home, you are barely the same person who left in the morning. Physically tired, mentally and emotionally disturbed, you come home as from a war zone, ready to numb yourself with alcohol or more drugs. Spending the whole week in this way, you don’t have enough time to recover over the weekend, when you drink more alcohol and do more drugs to escape reality. But of course, it doesn’t work. Your escape is temporary and doesn’t last. Your reality hits you in the face every Monday. Barely able to talk from a hangover, you now are doing the things you hate with more anger. You see no way out. Your bills must be paid. And then, sometimes, after all of this, you can still get killed in a parking lot just because you went to the store.  What could be more depressing than this situation?

If you are smart, eventually you will realize that this is your Matrix and you are Neo who has to break out of it. You will arrive at the conclusion that something has to change in your life. Then you will begin to look for a way to make it happen by searching for answers. Albert Einstein said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them.” This simply means that you have to raise your level of consciousness to a higher perspective from which you can see your life as a whole. While many drugs can numb you to your depressing life in The Matrix, sacred plants can let you escape it. This is easily achievable when you use certain powerful plant teachers that can lift your mind above all things. Then you may get a glimpse of what it’s like to be awake. But for the time being, you just want to solve your problems. And it’s a really good start. Neo had to follow a White Rabbit to realize himself. I had to follow a green cactus. And you have to find your way.

There are many plants and many ways, not all of them for all people. We share our way with those who might resonate with it. And for others who do not, keep looking until you find it. And when you do, you’ll know it. It’s a feeling. It’s a knowing.
