A Shadow On the Collective Consciousness

It has been a year since my annual nuclear experimentation article. Time flies. My scale of time of course is ignorant. I cannot comprehend the complexity of time unfolding as it does, beyond my limited human imagination, and my ignorance of the ways of time is not unlike your own. And perhaps it is not unlike the ignorance of the nuclear goons of yesteryear, whose shortsighted planning for the nuclear waste ‘storage’ failed to take into account the life of nuclear radiation in human generations much less the millions of years that nuclear waste actually remains deadly.

Some people posit that one generation is roughly twenty years. So, about three generations ago the first nuclear waste was created and then buried, for future generations to deal with.

Fukushima: 5 Years of Fire – Global Day of Action, March 11, 2016

Happy New Year! No, I’m not talking about 2016, I’m talking about Year 5. Fukushima, Year 5. It’s almost 5 years since the initial meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear reactor, and although the disaster continues today it is not being treated by authorities with the kind of decisive urgency such an ecology-threatening situation demands.

It’s time for a change of course…

Fukushima: 5 Years of Fire

There are some events in history that change the timeline forever, marking the rest of the story for thousands of years. These events supersede all others before, and after, for some time. The Fukushima Daiichi experiment is spewing radioactive waste with a million-year ecological effect into the Pacific Ocean, nuclear disaster fractures the present and causes dire effects for the future — as far as humanity is concerned, forever. Fukushima is ground zero and time zero.

A Million Cancer Deaths from Fukushima Expected in Japan, New Report Reveals

A Million Cancer Deaths from Fukushima Expected in Japan, New Report Reveals

A shocking new report defies the chronically underestimated impacts of the Fukushima’s triple meltdown on the risk of cancer in exposed populations, which does not just include Japan, but arguably the entire world.

A new report from Fairewinds Energy Education (FEE), “Cancer on the Rise in Post-Fukushima Japan“, reveals that the ongoing multi-core nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi plant that started in March 2011 has produced approximately 230 times higher than normal thyroid cancers in Fukushima Prefecture, and could result in as many as one million more cancers in Japan’s future as a result of the meltdown.

The Nuclear Industry’s Million-Year Waste Cycle: Contaminating Future Generations

The Nuclear Industry’s Million-Year Waste Cycle: Contaminating Future Generations

The nuclear energy and weaponry industries are signs the military-industrial complex is running at white hot. The inherent dangers of the nuclear experiment are the same ones that President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us all about in his famous exit speech on 17 January, 1961 when he said: “We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, either sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced powers exists, and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted.”

But today, despite this warning, the nuclear experimentation industry is still shrouded in scientific and political secrecy, undermining our liberties and democratic processes and risking our health and our very existence in the process. When it all goes wrong — and history shows us this outcome is inevitable — the environmental destruction both of nuclear accidents and planned detonations is global, and permanent.

Cancer, Coverups and Contamination: The Real Cost of Nuclear Energy

“When the Chernobyl accident happened some of the iodine went around the world several times. In fact, you, I, everyone – we all have a piece of Chernobyl in our body…” ~ Theoretical physicist and author Michio Kaku

Disinformation is a component of any propaganda. The highly paid technocrats and advocates of “peaceful uses of the atom” increasingly use disinformation to repress and control public protest against nuclear pollution and environmental injustice.

As a former employee of two US national nuclear labs*, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory, and after having seen what I have seen, NO, I am NOT an advocate of nuclear power. Unfortunately, most so-called experts on these issues talk in front of a blackboard, but that is not what nuclear materials are; they are not theory and calculations on paper, as most academics around the world seem to think, but destructive beasts that kill people without any discrimination. Let them go and get dressed like astronauts with breathing masks, and experience nuclear accidents, and be contaminated first hand, and see after that if they will still favor nuclear energy.

“Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you.” ~ Pericles.

Everything is ultimately political these days, but everything is firstly biological. Yet, ignoring our biology and our humanity, the military-industrial complex, with all its toxic modalities, still claims to operate in our best interests.

The fact is, modern politics has become the imposition of institutional formality where individuals and truth once were. Increasingly favoring institutional privilege over individual rights, politicians on all sides of the game act to reinforce and advance the standing of corporations at the expense of our physical world. They embark on resource wars for profit, destroy our environment for energy, construe zealotry as patriotism, and steer a culture of social competition – not cooperation – all the while hiding behind veils of secrecy and meaningless rhetoric.

Beware – Our Water is Poisoned!

Beware – Our Water is Poisoned!

By Dr. Susan M. Walker

Guest Writer for Wake Up World

Where we stand now in 2015, everyone is drinking or absorbing poisoned water. Not just the usual poisons so many health advocates have spoken of – such as fluoride, chlorine and certain heavy metals that contaminate our drinking water – no, I’m referring here to a poison far more insidious and far reaching in its implications, and unless the water you drink is home filtered by reverse osmosis, or distilled by steam, your water is likely poisoned (along with your food supply) with radioactive waste sources outside of what is considered “naturally occurring” radiation, such as radon (a TENORM).

What is alarming, is the accumulative amount of man-made radioactive waste such as tritium (a by-product of nuclear reactors, identified in municipal water reports as ‘tritiated water’ or HTO) (Biello, 2014, Scientific America). Tritium is linked to cancer, it’s radioactivity is partly water based and can in theory go anywhere in the body. What is even more alarming is that radioactive tritium is only a part of the radioactive poisons in the drinking water, but it is showing up in higher quantities, along with other radioactive isotopes.

“The United States will continue to make clear that it reserves the right to respond with overwhelming force – including through resort to all of our options – to the use of weapons of mass destruction against the United States, our forces abroad, and friends and allies.” ~ US National Strategy to Combat Weapons of Mass Destruction

While humanity remains confused and in fear because of the continued ‘War On Terror’, some of the world’s leaders have taken steps to terrorize humanity even further. The policy above was announced as part of the US National Strategy to Combat Weapons of Mass Destruction in December 2002, and to this day, that statement remains a centerpiece of U.S. foreign policy. The document not only threatens nuclear retaliation to attacks on the U.S. but it goes even further to include preemptive strikes in so-called “appropriate” cases.

Nuclear Experimentation Year 70 – Playing With Madness

Nuclear Experimentation Year 70 – Playing With Madness

By Ethan Indigo Smith

The recent “news” on the nuclear situation in Iran brings to light the madhouse of cards on which the postmodern world is built. Or rather, it would bring the madness to light if the major media outlets of the world were not bought up and sold out to the military industrial complex, and therefore completely misinformed on the actions and dangers of the nuclear experimentation industry.

The story is not just about how Iran wants to join the club of failed nuclear experimentation states, though that is certainly worthy of raising an eyebrow. This story is not just about the threat to nearby states, or the implications to global relations. The story is not just about how they could be so ill minded, and short sighted as to look for solutions in a dirty technology…

Glorifying Peace Instead of War: Challenges and Solutions

Despite the fact that we live in a world of increasing violence in every walk of life, humans still have not lost hope; they talk about peace as they have done since the beginning of time. Some advocate peace by preparing for war; others advocate peace by preparing for peace.

I thought I could do peaceful work inside the United States’ nuclear labs, but I learned I was wrong. I realized that environmental and nuclear non-proliferation work was an illusion, and that purely academic projects are sustained to lure well-intentioned young scientists into weapons development programs. I also realized that if scientists stop developing the instruments of mass destruction, the government will be powerless to continue developing them. So I resigned from the nuclear labs, and chose instead to work for peace and now I urge others to do the same.

Revealed: Fracking Used to Inject Nuclear Waste Underground for Decades

Revealed: Fracking Used to Inject Nuclear Waste Underground for Decades

Recently unearthed articles from the 1960s detail how nuclear waste was buried beneath the Earth’s surface by Halliburton & Co. for decades, as a means of disposing the by-products of post-World War II atomic energy production.

Fracking is already a controversial practice on its face, so allowing industries to inject slurries of toxic, potentially carcinogenic compounds deep beneath the planet’s surface — as a means of “see no evil” waste disposal — already sounds ridiculous and dangerous without even going into further detail.

Alleged links between fracking and the contamination of the public water supply and critical aquifers, as well as ties to earthquake upticks near drilling locations that are otherwise not prone to seismic activity, have created uproar in the years since the “Cheney loophole” was implemented in 2005, which allowed the industry to circumvent the Safe Drinking Water Act by exempting fracking fluids, thus fast tracking shale fracking as a source of cheap natural gas.

Science, Secrets and Corporate Slavery

Science, Secrets and Corporate Slavery

By Andreas Toupadakis, PhD

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

The nuclear age began in great secrecy in 1942. A team of international scientists, supervised by General Leslie Groves of the Army Corps of Engineers, worked to develop the bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, brought instant death to more than 200,000 people like you and me, and brought an agonizing death to even more.

Every summer, in Nagasaki, citizens mourn the death of about 5,500 pupils and teachers in the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of their city. But even today, after witnessing the nuclear horror on humans in 1945, scientists still continue to be hostages to the military, the military to the governments, the governments to the corporations – and the individuals who elect their governments to their own fears for survival and greed.

Undoubtedly, the arms race is fueled in a large part by a number of scientists in government laboratories and industries, and not only in the military. For example, Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon, and TRW, had split more than $2.2 billion in missile defense research and development funding in the two years of 1998-99. Then, in the 2000 election cycle they gave over $2 million in campaign contributions to 25 pro-BMD Senators.
